Re: Sax

The saxophonist who played with me in the 80's had a 6 stars opening and used #4 reeds. He has a HUGE sound! Mind you, he played a 1957 Selmer alto sax...

What are you using as effect at the top of the tune? It almost sounds like you're doubled by a clarinet.

Re: Sax

Works for me, although this can go in several keys and musical directions. I am presently in a project trying to assemble some licks I ripped off Michael Brecker solo concerts to construct melodies and solos. I got one melody by displacing the melody of Naima by 2 1/4 bars. The hardest part is getti...

Hey guys!

It so happens only the video card was irreparably damaged.

I'm just glad the Pulsars are ok.

See ya!

Re: huge symphonic piece

Maybe I can find the chinese flute SF2 file I manipulated. If you remember the old tune "Easter moon" form a few years back you can remember how beautiful that sound came out.

Re: huge symphonic piece

The composition stands up very nicely. 1. Can you find a flute to replace that horrid piece of crap? I am partial to a nice chinese flute in these settings... 2. Is there anything you can do about that constant shimmer in the strings? It sounds like the loop points are all wrong. Or could it be the ...

Re: My stab at trying to sound like Fripp

Didn't miss it. I just listen to a lot of bootlegs of Fripp and can tell you for sure that he very rarely uses the downwards bend.

On the subject of upward motion, up an octave and, more frequently, up a 9th works great. The 10th usually comes in on the next looping point...

Is that what Bill Bruford plays on King Crimson's "The Sheltering Sky"?

Re: My stab at trying to sound like Fripp

Pretty close to Fripps's sound, that's for sure.

One important tip: The guitar bends up, not down unless you use a tremolo bar.
Fripp rarely uses down bends in this particular setting.

Re: My XS Key died... Need to buy a MAC and need your input.

Yeah! I could still be earning my living with Logic... I am now a buyer for ABB's high voltage transformers division so I can afford to use the "unofficial" version of my favorite sequencer(I don't think anybody at Emagic will mind, hehe) in order to just continue my personal little projec...

Re: My XS Key died... Need to buy a MAC and need your input.

Thanks for the offer but I believe the keys are coded to the installation CD if I am not mistaken. I would still need my EXS24 anyways. That is my workhorse.

Thanks again :)

Sit back and RELAX

I have been working on this idea for a while now... It's something you might call generative music but it's so tonal it puts you to sleep. Just flog it on your favorite MP3 player at night and let yourself be transported. Don't think, just let the sound carry you. Don't put it on too loud, it's not ...
