I do the opposite... there's such an unlimited possibility of controller assignments to pulsar devices that, rather than create one freak setup per device, I just set the freak to take a series of controller numbers (20-28 or something like that) and then set the synths in pulsar to work with them.

Yep I work this config, mainly due to GigaStudio not yet supporting win2k. Everything works fine, although Pulsars lack of WDM drivers under win98 means that some of Sonar's more powerful features are not easily usable (DXi's, and input monitoring).

However.... upgrade to v3 and win2k and things ...

Bingo!! After some problem solving at the weekend I've been able to solve the mess which installing the v3 software caused.

The solution, as usual, proved to be very simple..... upgrade Sonar to the latest fix on the cakewalk site.

This is a post to inform those who are curently using Sonar within the 98se environment, for whatever reason, that Pulsar v3 can, as in my case, totally ruin stuff. So much so that Sonar cannot even see any soundcard to profile.

On the good side... everything is sweet in 2k and WDM works ok ...

It's well and truly screwed my Sonar up. Sonar intermittently recognises and then doesn't recognise that I've got a soundcard. Loading up GigaStudio kind of kick starts it to recognise the Pulsar. But even when it does ...

They can keep the functionality of the Pulsar environment(i.e. GSIF, Mod2, and all those freebies) AND allow the XTC interaction with the sequencer. No more having to pop up the Pulsar environment before making a track ...
