Is there any midi editors left now without all the additional baggage of AUDIO support?

"logic non audio  "

i want to edit midi CC to output right from ACID as easilly as you can edit a wav file.

syncing programs is a pain in the ass.

hmm, that sucks, I thought there was some version of Logic without the audio engine. I have fruityloops which outputs ccs, as well...

...and maybe set 'no audio dest' in fruity...
Fruity is real cool to make CC# modulalions. It exports and sends that midi.
But Fruity can only act as Midi Clock Master. Then again, sync problems... unless the midi CC# are created in Fruity as 'patterns' which can be easily changed CC# and more parameters in your other midi sequencer. I like Fruity's LFO stuff, I should make some 'template CC# patterns' to import in Cubase...

DeFex, how would you think to combine midi and audio? Or will you only be using a midi sequencer?
If I were only using midi, I'd probably choose Cakewalk (which has audio too), which also has extended midi editing. Anywayz, I like the CAL's (user midi editing, like programs inside Cakewalk) and other midi goodies in Cakewalk.

well i usually sequence most of the tune as midi then i will render all the parts and put them in acid for mixing (and screwing around with). ACID can also play MIDI but editing is not easy. with a wave file you can just "edit in sound forge" and sound forge opens and you can do what you want
and hit save. it loads right back into acid.

with midi however it is not so simple. you have to "edit in logic" (what i tried anyways) then it loads into logic, no problem, but when you hit "save" it does not work because the file is "in use" by ACID. so you have to export a midi file to disk(because logic wont just save a midi file noooo) as another name and replace it with the one you edited.. bleagh. all i am trying to output is CC controls for controling mixers/effects in pulsar and outboard.

i had limited sucsess syncing acid to logic (on my old system) it would only stay in sync if i did not edit anything while it was playing. after i finish my new device i will start experimenting and see if 2.26 ghz works better at that than 800 . i hate having 2 projects for 2 programs for each song though.

does it make any sense?

Yes, totally!
Hey, doesn't Acid have this function 'Reload file'? Maybe on NTFS you can save a file while it's in use. I'll check it for you. I'm most curious about what midi program you'll be using after this topic... good luck, man!
