Thx Lima :).
It's often useful for me to be aware of the modules load.

:-)

Are also very interesting the informations about the max polyphony of certain modules :-)

dsp load

Post by radar23 »

Hi,

The numbers on the cwmodular site refering to the dsp load for 96 48 44,1 kHz, as detailed above, but do these numbers refer to percentage load (%) of a particular scope cards? ie 6 sharc card as 14 sharc card?

thanks

To calculate the dsp usage, I'm using the following procedure:
I load a project with just the Modular(2 or III) synth, samplerate is 44.1kHz. The dsp load now is [6.5]. When a module is added into the Modular, the dspLoad rises, e.g. let's take a SSBPhaser module: it's [21.40] now. Then this number is typed into a spreadsheet which subtracts the ModularSynth dsp usage [6.5], which makes a dspLoad of [14.90]. Because these values are varying by adding more modules, I'll add another SSBPhaser. The new dspLoad is 33.30. Subtracting [21.40] gives [11.90] for the second module. The third value is calculated accordingly.
I think that's an applicable way for (approximate) dsp usage diagnostics.
ps: of course the dspLoad values are true for all kind of Scope cards. It's just the Sample freq that counts.
