I don't know how anybody feels about our favourite company, and many others like it,but I think freedom of speech does count here.If computer piracy does destroy the music industry,as we have been led to believe,It Will not However destroy Music (and it's creators).Mmmm That's a weight off my chest.

Fine I don't mind being more clear.A music industry slogan is"piracy kills music",and unless proven,in black and white I'm very dubious, but the good news is, I personally don't need a multi-national to make music, and nore does anyone else here I imagine.
Frankly If all of the"music industry "wasn't so bloody enormous I think that musicians, and peoples imaginations in general would benefit.
I think that's clear enough.
Keep up the good work

What we need Sony to do if anything is make some substantial developements in Soundforge & Vegas instead of just buying out Sonic Foundry & sticking their name to it. Cheap Beggers.

well, that Sony slogan isn't that far from truth ...
without iPods and ring-tones there wouldn't be much left to sponser what's generally considered 'music' (in an artistic context)

chart records rarely satisfy the requirements of the latter - but they provide the social and cultural element the vast majority of 'listeners' demands.
you know there are parties and parties are about boy loves girl (and vice versa) and that a groove is needed to get the thing going etc etc

the so called 'majority' IS simple minded, always - there's nothing bad with it.
I'm a part of it too, sometimes

cheers, Tom

No I agree I'm not against the music industry But it just bugs me that they winge about not making enough money, and we know it's not "the music" that they care, or know anything about, but the shareholders who aren't happy.
If they promoted musicians in general, and not their market of 15-24 year olds something may just happen.
I saw a kid the other day playing guitar the other evening,he made joe satriani look like a tap dancing hamster.needless to say I don't think he's been inspired by Oasis or Robbie Williams.

vague debate...use cr*cks if you want, but do you need any ideology to justify that, or what?

I wasn't going to go anywhere by myself,I have the courage of my convictions, and if did want to, I'd go to a psychotherapist,I'm not paranoid because I do have hope.
All I'm saying is that if you have to drag people kicking and screaming out of the mainstream, then do it.
I'm just sick of switching on the radio in the car and hearing the same 30 song playlist on every station.

it's even more annoying if they optimaster the already overproduced content once more before airplay...

I c where you're coming from an a big way, but you should know what we're up against. Mainstream music has been manipulated into it's horrific *manufactured* state to make money from the masses, simple as that. The clever guys know that 80-90% of the masses are quite happy to listen to manufactured rubbish in abundance & thus procede to spoon feed it to them in ANY way they can, just as they do with television, films & even the media (manufactured news & media)

What's the answer? Who would you drag kicking & screaming? I reckon turn on the radio knowing what the program is. There *are* good radio broadcasts (musically speaking) applying to almost all genres of music. You just have to pick & choose what you watch, what you listen to, what you believe. If you change that in a radical shift, surely you'd be the one doing the spoon feeding ?

but seriously - they don't play that list (or sponsored self fullfilling prophecy) just to nag you personally.
There is a lot of reasearch done which content is the most effective to transmit the commercial content that's the stations' own business.

People eat that sh*t like burgers...
do you consider yourself more equal ?

fine - then we're a couple of virtual non-democrats already...

Any industry is always complaing that not enough cash comes in - it's the same boring story over and over again. It's an integral part of the system and can be ignored by those able to think (who wouldn't believe the whiners anyway)

since hundreds of years the mainstream always financed the 'sophisticated' stuff - but isn't it that today you actually HAVE alternatives ?

you can load tons of mp3 stuff (according to your taste) unattended from the net and use it on a portable player in the car.
could it be that you feel just excluded because the station ignores you ?

the content for playback isn't a problem, and the sound quality from your player is probably even better than the radio, but there's no personal adress anymore - you're alone on the road and no longer a part of the station's community

at least something like that did matter for me when I had to use the car a lot - you entered a certain area and switched to a familiar station

cheers, tom
