I'm just going outside now to see if I can find her star "Altair" in the Eagle constellation

Sometimes it's great to be human

Congratulation to all 3 of you (and more, if she has brothers/sisters)

That was the smile of my day
Thank you

and of course for your lady and yourself

I'm struggling to imagine that constellation from your point of view - is the eagle below Orion's left shoulder on that part of the planet ?

cheers, Tom

Thanks very much to everyone for the good wishes. This is a fantastic community of friends and friendly people. To be congratulated from all points across Earth is just fantastic and you can be sure little Imogen Altair will be told about in years to come

Astroman: The Eagle constellation is low in the north-east / north at the moment. The "eagle" itself is upside down.

Last night I did go outside to see her star. I checked first on my "Starry Night" astronomy program, went outside, looked straight ahead and up 33-degrees and there she was, twinkling above the palm trees.

I don't want to sound too sentimental, but I did make a wish for her on her star.

And given that my daughter might conceivably be alive in 2100 ( ) there is some small hope that a probe might even reach Altair by then, *just* 16 light years away.

What a nice thing for a new father to do
Also, who says that wishes are limited by the speed of light
