I have some questions on sync:
I am running Pulsar 2.04, a digital mixer (fostex VM200), and Cubase 5. Thus far, I have had the mixer slaved to Pulsar via ADAT.
Questin 1: Would using the mixer as master offer anything better? It would be more convenient because Pulsar tends to spew out unpleasant sounds out of the ADAT ports when switching projects. Using the mixer as master would fix this. What are the benefits/burdens to either option?
Question 2: If I do use the mixer as master, pulsar is then slave. but Cubase syncs audio to the sample clock of Pulsar. Will this still work? Would Cubase be synced to PUlsar, which in turn is synced to the digi-mixer? Would it be possible or better to synd directly to the mixer?
Question 3: MIDI Clock! When a Pulsar device is synced to MIDI clock from Cubase (an LFO rate, or delay tempo for example), the tempo fluctuates wildly. Between 118-122 in Pulsar, yet Cubase indicates 120 all the way. Is it possible to use Pulsar as the sync source to fix this? How? Any other way to make MIDI Clock sync usable? Right now it is worthless and makes the synths sound like shit! Does Steinberg newish MIDI interface fix this? It supposedly has 'superb' timing. . .
thanx all! I'm now going to play all of my favorite N'Sync and BackStreet Boys records while practicing self-mutilation and trying to get my rig all synced up
