Going the Modular route would be interesting, but I hear rumours that it is also very addictive and therefore expensive ;)

The evolver really does intrigue me. It does sound very interesting - and look who I found ;)

But Dominion has a ton of modulation and external CV - you could get a MIDI/CV converter like Kenton 2000 if you really want to automate with MIDI or better still a Silent Way audio->CV solution for more accuracy and tightness.

Evolver is a great synth too, the desktop version is cheap enough that you could get it in addition to something else.

:)

You are not the first person in the world to do that, while being witness to "my way" of making a decision ;)

Being frustrated about not being able to make up my mind myself, I have realized that I have learned a lot during my research. So the quest alone is valuable - For one, no device is perfect and what I've got already does sound really good, but the odd trick is valuable as well.

Initially I wanted a HW synth in order to get hands on a "one knob one function". I wanted to make the sound exploration tactile: learning by hearing and feeling.

This is still very important, but I want the comforts of a modern synth as well: Total midi implementation (or better) and presets: being able to save/recall my findings.

Maybe it's too much to expect?

Of the truely pure analogue synths I've listened to and which I'm able to get my hands on - I find The Dominion most interesting. But it's in backorder and wont be available before late april. It doesn't do the midi implentation thing though, but there might be workarounds.

The Elektron stuff does the daw-implementation right, but the workflow, however impressive, is convoluted.

The DSI PRO2 and Tempest I find interesting as well, but the rumour on the forums are that DSI are not good at fixing bugs in their devices - I don't want that frustration on a new device.

By now I don't think I'm gonna get it all in one device, so I think I'm gonna go with two devices:
1. The dominion 1 for pure analogue sound and hands on one knob one function-style (no further expectiation about advanced functionality)
2. Elektron Analog "something" for total daw implementation, maybe the most inspiring workflow ever, and device support/future development.
3. Keep looking for second hands gems :)

Don't worry, I have arranged a visit to my psychiatrist ..., which is, in fact, a glass of water, and will keep waiting...

Lofty words for a (now much older) artist, but he also said (2007):
"If my career in show business hadn't panned out I would probably be working today in Hamilton, Ontario at the Dofasco steel mill"...

Yes, sorry guys.

I decided not to go for the DSI Pro 2.

The Tempest, the Prophet 08 and the BMF Dominion are all in back order, so I havn't had a chance to try them out. So at the moment I'm lurking at the second hand market hoping for something interesting (and a good deal) to show up.

So far the most interesting has to be this one - But I decided no to go Moog (35000 dkr = 4700 €/$) ;)

Use Google translate:

This particular unit even has it's own webpage:

All I can say is if I was in n the market, a Moog Sub 37 would be at the top of the list. Although a Voyager also has an interesting dual filter, with the ability to "spread" the cutoff points with a single knob...very musical implementation.

My GAS for the Sub 37 was strong at one point, until I tried it. It wasn't that it's not an interesting intrument, but I realized, that I'm not really into the Moog sound. I'm simply looking something else.

At the moment I have my GAS under control (and a few other projects) but I'm still looking.

Meanwhile, I am up to cut my veins… I am getting mad… I feel like a prophet in the middle of a tempest trying to get the dominion of the BMF department, while I drink a moog of coffee, at the end of the day, on top of it all, I am constantly farting, because I do not have control over my gas like it happens to you, lucky man…

A bit of a gamble maybe, but I really like the look of this one - Parva Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer

The parva is a nice find. Decent price for an 8 note poly fully analog. The demo sounds didn't really show off any of the modulation capabilities.

Yes - It has caught my attention. I think I'm at least gonna wait for the reviews before jumping on that one though.
