no, no way.

why not make a profile where the onboard audio is disabled for serious work. then, you can use the regular profile for games and whatever else...the irq sharing won't automatically make trouble, but it might during heavy use.

It seems to be working so far - I have yet to put on a full load to see what this system is capable off. But early tests seems to work without trouble, with ULLI at the lowest settings.

OK, I've been conducting the classic MasterVerb test and the new SC-Ambience. Unfortunately I'm not too impressed.

7 MasterVerbs no problem, but number 8 gives me a "PCI Master Overflow" I cannot solve.
2 SC-Ambience no problem, but number 3 gives me a "PCI Master Overflow" I cannot solve.
EDIT: 3108-2011 - I updated the bios and chipset drivers and was able to load 12 MV's, but still only 2 SC-Ambineces

I had hoped for something better than this - It's actually worse than my old NVidia/AMD based system was able to load.

I have updated the Bios, and I gained nothing other than maybe they loaded more easily until the limit was reached.

I have 2x15DSP cards in there + 1x3DSP (Electra) which has the Flexor keys. I'm thinking that maybe the electra card is the weak link here, and that I might get better performance without it. But I don't wanna lose my Flexor keys, and the extra IO's are also nice to have.

Is there any way to solve/improve PCI performance - tweaks in windows or something?

With the new Scope 64bit package I believe you get the 5.1 Room which I use with the STW stuff. Disable the unused channels and load the hell out of those as they are optimised much better than the STW's.
They have less editablilty than the STW's but for time based Rooms and Early Reflections its very good.
I currently use the SC Room, STW Ambience and a PCM70 to get the spaces I like for recording stuff.
Live I just use the ER's from the SC Room and the PCM70.

Yeah the 5.1 room is in the scope 5 package (32 bit as well). I was just hoping to get a bit more performace out of this new computer of mine. But I guess It will have to do what I have here.

there is a pci latency tool that might help if the video card is hogging cycles. other than that, there's probably not much to do. i'm thinking that the next Scope version may be a bit more optimized...

Petal,

I dont think the electra is the problem if i am right in thinking its the same as a Luna II card (2nd gen). I have a Luna II+xtc card setup and get 14-15 MVs.

Not sure what 15dsp cards you have, but if one of them is 1st gen that would explain a lot. I see you know have the 3dsp card on its own IRQ, do you run that as the "master"? I would try switching the cards around, having a 2nd gen 15dsp card as master on its own IRQ, that would probably help performance quite a bit.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

yes, a first gen card would definitely explain those results.

I only have second gen cards in there. Unfortunately the kind Intel Mobo designers didn't have full-length cards in mind when they decided where to put the SATA-interfaces. 2 out of 6 are rendered useless because of my full length GFx-card and another 2 will become useless if I put a full length card where I now have the Elektra, and unfortunately I need 4 Sata-I/O's - It was a good idea though, so thanks for chiming in!

I will try out the PCI-latency tool and see it that will give me better performance, otherwise it will have to do, what I have now - I prolly want never need more than 7 MV's or 2 SC-ambiences anyway :)

Thanks for the help!

yes, if they have a low profile, it might do the trick. I'll have to look into it.

Thx again!

seriously, my pleasure!
don't forget to keep an eye out for bios/firmare updates for the motherboard and the video card, as well as video card driver updates. you have fairly recent tech and we've had several recent os changes. there may be significant improvements in the next few months. i remember a period when the core2 processors had just hit, when gigabyte motherboards wouldn't work at all...
