well, actually there are some really bad sweatshops downtown that were more like what i was thinking about...
yes, cloaked 'inservitude' is still rampant everywhere - especially against women and children.

yeah, the workers on the big farms, especially in cotton and tobacco live pretty much like serfs always have, too.

Slavery is no new thing but it's still difficult to get used to.

Progress here means increasingly the walls of The Old Empire still attracts peoples willing to be our 'employees'

that's how it's usually been for slaves. they are usually indentured. that's the same way women became slaves instead of protected partners. though, don't fool yourself, there have always been mighty powerful women, especially in India.

the treatment of women, is the same as the treatment of each other. in a system based on exploiting weakness for personal gain, there is no solution. the ones makng the laws are the ones who work for the greatet predators. the only solution is to act properly one's self and to encourage others to do the same. issues like this are just distraction from the real problem. this law won't fix anything. more rights or not, women will continue to feel vulnerable, because they are. the men in the area will opress them because they'll have no one else to bully, being of such low stature in the hierarchy of this world. if the current line of thinking continues, there will be a very bad result, humans won't be humans and that won't be a gain for the humans or the planet.
