I've only done the one cracked rib previously, and it took more than a little management (especially with my regular tuba gig at the time).
Doing both sides and shoulders.....is that the collarbone? - anyway, i can't imagine it. Are you in a cast?
My thoughts and wishes for a smooth recovery are with you.
Oh, the thought of blowing a tuba at the moment .......... no thanks
No laughing? You kidding? I watched an old episode of Victor Meldrew the other night and needed extra painkillers.
The shoulders are a strange one - it's at the side of the shoulders (must have been how I rolled after the bouncing ended) but they're not too painful, just sore.
No, I'm not in a cast. They rarely treat for ribs nowadays unless there is a risk to puncturing the lungs. Fortunately, mine have broken slightly away from the lungs, so it's just time and resting, plus plenty of painkillers.
What worries me is that the painkillers can cause constipation and I really do not fancy having a good strain for the next week or few
I'm having to sleep on the sofa propped up:
1) Because I simply can't get out of bed
2) Because I can't lie flat
3) If I did go to bed, I'd worry about the missus having mobile elbows in her dreams
I would give anything though for a good yawn - can't do it - just loads of little yawns.
And I wish they'd invent left handed toilets 'cos I can't press the flush handles with my right-hand side (worst affected)
There's a lot worse off than me - I can laugh at it.
What's remarkable is that I knew I'd done something, perhaps bruised or a couple of cracks, so I carried on for a few days.
We walked or hiked I should say up some big hills for a couple of days
Then I had a couple of days where it was only sore, so we did some road-biking - 2 20 mile rides (12 gears lower than normal).
Then the initial swelling wore off and wow, did the pain kick in.
We got a farmer to laod the luggage and bikes for the journey home and we had neighbours waiting to empty the car and take the bikes off when we got back.
People can be so nice can't they?
Oh, I can't get it out of my head about blowing a tuba like you had to........ I think it'd be less painful giving a blue whale the kiss of life.
