bad logic in arguementation Bingo, that should be better :-D
even if the war was canceled by the gouvernment the point is still there...
I don't think so. If you cancel the war variable then you cancel gary's point in its entirety. :)

what?
my point is that HITCHENS CLAIMS THAT RELIGION IS THE CAUSE OF STRIFE AND WAR, YET HE(AN ATHEIST) CALLED FOR WAR(quite publically, as an expert) AGAINST SADDAAM(AN ATHEIST). there seems to be a disconnect in your mind Bingo..

Thats my earlier point Gary ..Idealogues ARE disconnected . Sorry Bingo... or maybe I should say "sorry son" .... ah the joys of youth .
Speaking of which I just saw " The great global warming swindle" I watched it all until the rebuttalists started their blurting . I gave it the old remote flick when one bloke said "well if you say that co2 is only small part of the atmosphere [.5] so it cant have that much effect ,how about if I inject you with a small amount of Ebola ,will that have an effect ? "@ that point I thought " well you can lead a horse to water but if it wont drink then fuck it "
I really think it's time to say ....the U.N. was a good idea but , it's time to move on .
Bingo .........when I'm feeling totally rooted and freaked I say the Lords Prayer ,I know the popes probably a poof ,I know the sadism thats been inflicted in the name of religion , I probably know everything you know mate but I gotta tell you ..it works ... so I guess I gotta say I'm not an atheist but you wont find me in church on sunday . It's like going to live in the country ....the countryside is beautiful.......... but the friggin people :o

Religion is an ideology. You can not say atheism is an ideology because it is a lack of an ideology. When I want to get drunk, I do not say that my body has an alcohol deficiency, that is ridiculous. When something does not exist, it is nothing.
It's not a religion or an ideology, it is simply reality.

Atheism is superior because we believe in facts not that we deny reality. We deny your deluded claims for which you have and never had no proof at all.
Religion on the other hand believes in ghosts and hobgoblins. So then, you tell me what's more superior, the facts or superstitions?

My facts? Hardly!
My facts are being used by everyone, including you, right now, typing on a computer keyboard.
Why don't you stop using my facts, eh?

sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "i'm right, i'm right, nyah, nyah, nyah" won't make it so. this thread is about christopher hitchens and his work. mr. hitchens is shown to be a demogogue. face it. :)

co2 in the atmosphere is a good thing. plants breathe it which gives us oxygen. the system is well designed, symbiotic.

True, because I am just replying to your posts.
stardust wrote: But that all is no proof for your denial of reality.
Learn about epistemology as a fact.
Learn to be modest to accept your limits.
Learn to understand more than tthe trivial black and white you propagate.
Learn that there are non deterministic entities as facts.
Learn that you dont know nothing about who and why, even if you delude yourself to do so.

All that has been said before.
What you think is real has been prooven that's not.
I don't deny that epistomology is fact.
I know my limits. I also know yours.
What I propagate saves lives, what you propagate kills lives.
Non deterministic entities live in your head only.
That's why you're delusional.

The circle is yours. Now let gary do some bullshiting.

I should rephrase that. Atheism is about reality as we know it while religion is mostly fiction. I know that some people attempt to justify it by saying that it was never intended to be taken literally. That is bull. The bible was always intended to be the literal word of god which is pretty funny since there is no god to begin with.

Were the prophets crazy or liars? I used to think they were crazy but now I think it was more of a power grab. Take the Iraq war as an example. There were no weapons of mass destruction but lies about it allowed a lot of people to get fat pay checks and in the case of the president power or a feeling of power. Of course he fully expected a quick triumph. That was stupidity.

stardust wrote: You think you know more than the rest of the world.
And you dont.
Never claimed that.
stardust wrote: You think you own the truth.

I don't think, I know and we have the proof.
You claim you own the truth, but you don't offer any proof.
stardust wrote: You think you know your limits.
And you dont, because you still speak in extremes.
That's a subjective claim, the sort similar to 90% of your posts.
stardust wrote: You think you represent the savior of lifes and whatever
And you dont
Back to retarded claims.
stardust wrote: You think you can convince with rhetoric devices.
And you dont.
Fine. I'll give you this one. I'm not good bullshiter like yourself.
The 360 is yours.

What we determine is real, is based on observation and scientific evidence. We have to agree on god for it to be reality. We clearly do not agree on it. There is nothing wrong with fiction and fantasy as long as you know it is not real. The problem we atheists have with theists is that theists want to blur the lines between fiction and reality.
stardust wrote:Hmmm

Brain, how can you write....as we know it ?
reality as you know it would be correct.

Believing that you know your personal kind of reality does not inevitably lead to atheism but maybe to Determinism and Materialism.

You should be able to see as well that there is still no need for atheism coming from that reasoning.

Atheism is about an anti attitude to the religions.
For some reasons you guys have identified religion as the evil in this world and like to be against.

It is no cure to nothing, but your hate to religions.

are you denying that he called for the invasion of Iraq?
how do you account for the fact that he says wars are the result of religion and then Hitchens, as a secular atheist, calls for war against Sadaam, a secular atheist?
if wars are caused by religion, then why are atheists engaged in warfare?

hey pot, stop calling the kettle black. the ADULT thing would be to accept the truth and stop with the rhetoric. religion is a problem in many places, but using religion as a scapegoat is disingenuous. Christopher Hitchens is a demogogue and a bad example.

it's fine with me if you're an atheist. it's clear that you won't address the actual issue that i've addressed, because Mr Hitchens said what he said and wrote the articles calling for war that he wrote and you have considerable emotional commitment. there's no two ways around that and everyone can see it who has eyes to see.

I think theists in the USA should be feared because of their love of guns, aggression, dominance in society and insistence that everyone should be like them.

i already have.
mao. 40+million
stalin.20+million
polpot. 4+million

our freind Sadaam was also an atheist, secular leader.

all these guys believed in gun control.

the religious have no patent on mass murder. in fact, the religious leaders who called for mass murder never were believers in the religions they represented.

So what school or post office did they shoot up with semi-automatic machine guns and extra clips on their belts?
