that is like you have to eat the icing of the cake
not of your own piece, no - of the whole cake... :P
wtf is he doing - demonstrating non-note stealing with his constant pedal-down tingelingelingeling - woosh - pling arpeggs ?
where's the range of the piano, intimate notes, expression, non reverb drowned tones... good they don't transmit smells yet ... with his final arm raising :o
I wouldn't have made it to the end, but wanted to see him demonstrate the string resonance feature (which didn't work for me in the demo, but that may be due to Win98) - when he comes to mention it, he doesn't even perform it... s*cker

cheers, Tom

Well I can only say that I have played classical piano competitions from the age of 6 till my Conservatory days in St.Louis. I thought the best sounding piano I played was the Helpinstill Upright, then the Yamaha cp88. The latter had it's own sound, but worked in R & Roll O.K. Emulators had no pianos whatsoever, and the only decent piano emu I heard was Ensoniq's w/ the JC 8MB piano ROM. But that even paled to what we have now.
I have played every library that came out, and VST and still was silently awaiting 4 someone to get it close enough to use as a solo, or live instrument.

When Gigastudio 3 Orchestra w/ GigaPulse Pro Convolution Reverb / Mic Modeller came out, I was floored. The mediocre " GigaPiano II " was a great way to demo the abilities of these fabulous ideas, but once I added my various pianos, and applied the Pedal up, and down reverb / mic models, I played until I passed out. SFP does this to me also.

When depressing the sustain pedal, it models the resonance and string to string vibrations w/ harmonics, and gives you an incredible rush as it's realism seems to force you to practice. I rarely play my real pianos anymore. My MC3000 controller has a huge memory capacity, and stores velocity mappings for each composition. I have a generic one that covers most gigs. But the Chopin Fantasie Impromptu pre. allows me to play the whole piece w/o fatigue. On my real Grand ( Baldwin ) I have always felt the strain from the beginning of the piece, if it's played at the correct tempo. Now I can play it w/o fatigue over, and over. And it sounds like a grand on whatever stage you want it to. My Taj Mahal impulse makes me feel that I am sitting up in a balcony watching myself play. It is incredible. I shall let GaryB tell you next week as he is visiting again for more new stuff to add in DAW world.

I can't tell you which piano is the best 4 you, only you know that. But I can tell you that GS3 Orchestra, and it's VST counterpart GVI are the only means to achieve this kind of realism. You must pick the sampled piano yourself, then add the resonant body impulses.

I use 4 x Piano DVD's. Vintaudio's Yamaha Grand is lovely, and his Upright Clinton, and his Upright Boston Steinway. My 4th is Mike Post's Bosendorfer.

The stock Tascam GigaPianos I refuse to use. Their velocity response is nill, their sound is passable at best, the fff samples are so annoying. Other than that, they sound GGRRREEEEAAAAATTTTTT !!! Yeah,..right.
Sorry, live gigging in Vegas causes this outburst. I always have these players that use the worst gear live, while claiming their " awesome rig " is in the studio, come up to me and ask how it sounds, I use to tell the truth, but have learned to lie like a booking agent, and simply reply,....GGRRREEEEAAAAATTTTTT !!!!!!! It is my imatation of my childhood ceral beast called " Tony The Tiger ". Ahh, fugheddabowdid.

Creamwares rusty old GSIF 1.0 drivers work flawlessley live w/ SFP.

Well i have to say tried both Pianoteq and TruePianos and i like Ivory better  . i didn't feel there was much in it - yes they sound different but onw didn't really impress me more than the other. However as a 'go to' quick piano without the occasional streaming clicks of Ivory i'll probably get TruePianos cos Pianoteq is nearly twice the price and i can't justify spending the same amount again as i did on Ivory for something that will get replaced in the mix, it just need a writing tool.
