Subject: 2 computer setup

Hi Betman

Basically I use the pulsar as a mixing/synths/FX box. I have 3 pulsar I's in there (CUSL2-c, 256mb RAM, Matrox G400) which are connected to my other computer over 2 lightpipes (giving me 16i/o) and 2x midi ins.

On the other computer (Abit BE6-II, 256MB RAM, Creative TNT2 Ultra - this computer is temporary and is going to get upgraded as soon as I have some $$$ again) is an RME Hammerfall LE (2xlightpipes=16i/o), a Roland SMPU64 Midi Interface (4x midi i/o), an SBlive (for general internet and sound editor use) and the machine runs Logic Audio 4.61. It's the only sequencer I will use. And I've used all of them.

I should also add that I have a Fostex VC-8 also connected to the Pulsar, giving me 8 analog i/o. I use this to connect my Nord Micro Modular and also the cheap analog output of the SB-live (to all those freaks who are slaving the Pulsar to the SBlive via SPDIF : stop smokin all that crack!). Pulsar is clock master to all devices. It's a very nice system that will enable me to add an Emu e-6400 ultra with ADAT i/o card, and (I'm drooling now) a Kurzweil KSP8 FX box, also with ADAT i/o...

That's it. Very simple, pretty cheap (hmm, maybe not after all the motherboard upgrades :) )... no more Pulsar audio headaches (as a synth box running Reaktor/Vaz/Giga etc it is super stable) and the joy of leaving Pulsar to what it does best IMHO : synths, cool real-time FX (Orbitone Impressor 0wnZ me), and scary routing possibilities. On top of this, it leaves Pulsar and Logic to be on the screen all the time - no tedious switching between apps! Anyway, this is a system that works for me... but I guess it all depends on how you work.

peace,

budz

Subject: There we are trying to get on

I've had some very unusual problems when trying to load old projects into 2.04a. Many strange things happen, the most bizarre is the fact that a self-reproduction of files took place into the Programs HD or Primary HD as magic. So for example, a Folder that contains the Modular Patches, will at the same time have a Folder, that contains the folder I've just open, so you can find again, the Modular Patches and the folders with the "Modular Patches", etc, and so on and on and on… And when I tried to delete it, Pulsar crashed all the time. Solution: Remove, working from Explorer, all this bizarre files and completely reinstall everything. But I still have some problems loading old projects. Don't ask me how I've got there, because I don't know… I just loaded old projects, and ended up that way…

The Interface of the new Pulsar seems to me very useful and interactive, very good ideas indeed that makes my job much faster and enjoyable.

Subject: Christmas present

The new bundle of free Plug-ins from Pulsar, as a Christmas present, are FANTASTIC to my taste. Using them with Guitar, and particularly with my Guitar Base, it gives to it an extraordinary presence. Thanks very much, again, for those plug-ins Creamware, SENSASIONAL!

Those Plug-ins are, in a sense, part of the Upgrade because they came out almost together.

Subject: Pulsar 2.04a and ASIO

With Cubase VST 5.0r3pb2 I get dropouts or sort of glitches once in a while when using the ASIO2 drivers in Pulsar 2.04a, anyone else experience this? Any ideas to whether the ASIO or WAVE drivers are better?

Dear Budz

Thank You for taking the time to type all this out
it is much appreciated. I am going to print it out and
study it closer as there are some unknowns that I would like to explore.

Subject: Downloadperformance bug?

Hi there

I reported this bug earlier in this forum but didn´t get much response, so I poste it again.

Till the 2.04 update my Internet download performance is gone (about 1k and less) if Pulsar is running at the same time (winstart.pro or normal App doesn´t make any difference).
If I quit Pulsar, download performance is back (7-8k).
With 2.01 all was working fine.
Lack of RAM is not the case, I tested this.
Problem is also not providerspecific.
I heard that this was a bug in Version 1.0 :-( but this doesn´t help much.
It took me some time to register that it´s pulsar causing the problem.
Creamware didn´t answer to this Question for about one month now.
Is there anyone who nows how to get rid of this problem?

Thanks in advance

clearly the asio drivers. the mme-drivers have latencies of more than a hundred ms.

Subject: winME also better for 2.01?

is winME also better if one is running pulsar version 2.01?
i don´t want to upgrade, for the vu-meters are so sluggish.

and, important for me, too: how much bigger is winME than 98se? 98se needs less than 200mb on my hd. winME?

I'm suffering from the exact same problem. I hope Creamware solves this a.s.a.p.
