well.. the moment I saw this, I remembered those Avid video editor keyboards that had all the Avid shortcuts printed on the keyboard.

Funny thing was, although the keys were custom printed.. you'd have to take the thing apart if you created a custom key layout.
Back the LCD backed keys.. it's a cool concept, but only problem I see is that keys tend to stay consistant.. I mean, that's the whole point isn't it? You may take some time initially to set things up, but once it's set up, it stays. I think that's the whole point of assigning function to space. I mean, nobody looks at what's printed on the keyboard after you learn it right?
On the other hand, this keyboard would be ideal for situations where a user doesn't have the time to learn the function space relationship.. like an interactive booth with a non standard interface.. (how about one of those internet booths)
Otherwise, it's just another cool toy to add to my gadgetry.. If I ever run a studio that's open to public, I'd get one of these and place right were a potential client may see it. It will surely add to the authenticity and also the "vibe". I think workspace interior is important because it directly affects creative flow.
So, when do I get to fool around with one of these probably too expensive toys? lol
