Suggestion for a 3rd Party Synth that runs under XTC?
I have a XTC card, along with a UAD-1 and a PowerCore. I chiefly use the XTC for synths, yet I don't own any other than what came with the card. I would like to expand my pallette, but have no idea what's out there. What I really want is something that runs in XTC mode, that is sufficiently different from the Creamware synths I have.
I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions, but is there a concensus as to what the "must have" synths are?
Thanks.

RichElam,
there are also old sytnhs from wavelength for free on the net, I love all of these.
They are often labeled as "Hummel":
- Miniscope hummel (for me is rather close to Minimax)
- Minimod hummel (an enhanced/extended version of miniscope hummel)
- Inferno hummel
- Bluesynth hummel 1 and 2
- DrumVox
- Juicer
- Thrust (very very amazing!!!)
They are very well done and powerful (mainly modified version of creamware's official synths), maybe the only free devices that real sounds FAT and PRO.
I'm looking for other Hummel-Wavelength relase, if anyone know something that is not listed above, please add it and/or share it.
Now I can't afford a Wavelength device but, when I become less "poor", SPARC is my next addition to my setup

Sadly the old stuff from Hummel was linked to the old Wavelength site, and now the links are broken.
If anyone has one of these stuff in old backups, please, reshare it:
- Hummel transfusion filterbank
- Hummel plasma drumbox
- Hummel mutant
- Hummel gemini WT
- Hummel gemini PD
- Hummel Coma
- Hummel Avalon Euro
- Miniscope Hummel
- Minimod Hummel
- Inferno Hummel
- Bluesynth Hummel 1 and 2
- DrumVox Hummel
- Juicer Hummel
- Thrust Hummel
Thanks

New tread for Hummel's devices:

Well, it doesn't really matter if they do use a lot of dsp, I'm buying them. My card only has 6 SHARC dsps, but Cubase let's me freeze tracks to free up some power without much effort (a nice little advantage of XTC mode).

Since some time ago that I can't get the good old free wavelenght's synths (and all the other old devices, the ModularII above all) working in XTC anymore.
I'm with SX2 and SFP4 now and what I can get is more than enough for me to learn, to work, to explore, so I just would like to know if the problem is with my system.
I also don't use the freeze function but, also to clarify, the XTC devices don't unload from DSPs when you freeze, do they?
thanks guys, Ze

I don't know how it works in SX2 anymore (it feels like I had it installed for like a week before SX3 came out).
In SX3, when you freeze an instrument, you have the option of unloading the instrument. When I do that, the DSP load drops down to one bar (which is the same as when I have no XTC plugs running). So it allows you to exceed the DSP limitations of your card, same as it helps with CPU for native plugs.

Providing you have the vst dll and the synths are not in a sub folder (on the scope folder) you have to load them in SFP first, open the preset list and save the device...On 2005-10-24 22:05, zezappa wrote:

They should appear now in xtc mode.
That trick always works for me on old devices...
