I had a lot of problems until I removed my SCSI card. I have only CW cards installed and everything seems to be working great so far. With more than one CW card the can (and should) be on the same IRQ.

I'm going to get a USB ethernet card because I heard the PCI ones are a bad idea. I have the CUSL2. I hear the USB doesn't strain the PCI on those.

PCI Network card should be okay, as long as it isn't sharing IRQ with other PCI cards, as you don't tend to be running the network while recording/playing back anyway. I used my 3COM network card on the CUSL2 and now P4TE, and it doesn't hurt things...

...Off to eat turkey soon and give thanks

WHAT KIND OF NOISE?

ARE WE TALKING WHITE NOISE?

BANDWIDTH FROM WHAT TO WHAT AND HOW LOUD?

I PULLLED A REALLY NOVICE MOVE WHEN INSTALLING MY RIG INITALLY, BY SETTING THE DIFFERENT DIGITAL I/OS TO DIFFERENT BIT LEVELS I.E. CREAMWARE WAS SET TO 16-BIT 44.1 AND THE SOFTWARE WAS SET TO 24-BIT 48KHZ AND IT WAS EASILY FIXED BY PUTTING EVERYTHING ON THE SAME SETTINGS. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE TWO CREAMWARE CARDS AND I'M USING THE OLD PULSAR I CARD AS MY ADAT I/O AND IT DOESN'T WORK WELL WITH THE ULLI DRIVERS ON MY SCOPE SRB BOARD---I'VE STILL GOT TO USE THE 16-BIT STUFF TO NOT GET THE NOISE. I HOPE THIS HELPS...MAYBE YOU CAN ISOLATE WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO LET THE GROUP KNOW EXACTLY WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR SYSTEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS.....

SOMETHING ELSE TO CONSIDER.....

OCCASIONALLY WITH CUBASE, I'LL GET A BLURP OF NOISE NOT A CONSISITANT BACK GROUND NOISE SEEMS EVERY TIME I HAVE TO WRITE A LOT OF TRACKS--KIND OF LIKE THE COMPUTER IS STUTTERING. I T DOESN'T RECORD IT EITHER, JUST KIND OF MAKES THE COMPUTER BURP WHEN WRITING HUGE AMOUNTS (LIKE 16 TRACKS AT A TIME AND MONITORING WITH THE PUSLAR CARD NOT SET TO THE REALLY LOW ULLI STUFF.....IT DOESN'T DO IT THOUGH WHEN YOU PLAY BACK THE TRACKS ON MY SYSTEM.....IS THIS THE KIND OF NOISE?

I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM BY DISCONTINUING MONITORING ON MY COMPUTER COMPLETELY AND MONITORED EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE DIGITAL MIXERS.

TELL US PLEASE WHAT'S HAPPENEING IN YOUR SYSTEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS.....

SUBHUMAN WARNED ME ABOUT RAID AND I WONDER IF THAT'S A BIPRODUCT OF THE DRIVERS.

Guess I had more or less the same problem of (intermittent) noise (800Hz? can be..)
I then also had an SB-Live card with EMU APS drivers next to my Pulsar2. Ananlog out of the CDROM was connected to one of the inputs of the SBLive, which caused this noise to appear on most of my audio-streams. Disk-activity and moving windows over the screen changed the noise or made it disappear. Disconnecting the cdrom analog-out solved all problems.
I then experimented running all diskdrives and cdrom-drives on a separate power supply. That also solved the problem.
Hope this helps

Thanks subhuman. I'm still thinking about getting a USB ethernet card. Does anyone know anything about them? IRQ conflicts have been my constant nightmare.

About the noise. There is a bug in the software driver which causes excessive noise somethimes. I cna't remember exactly how I fixed it. For me it wasn't sliding the bar in Cubase.
