i was a long time not at home so i didnt have
the time to make music.

I the time of latency,bits and bytes,i remember that i have studied some piano.
I purchased "The Grand"(it rocks)did something with it plus some synths(Modular 2,
FM 7) .I hope i put not too much notes in it.
Just relaxed and hear it(not even too loud).
Obviously i need your oppinion about the mix
and how did you found it!

Beautiful! I love everything, but personally, I find that the perc track interferes with and hides the beauty of the piano and other harmonies, but that's just me. (I'm not very fond of percussions in general...)

couldn't agree more with eliam.

everytime i have the chance to play a real piano (i had limited piano training long time ago), i wonder why i ever bought all this computer stuff...

the piano part is strong enough to stand on it's own. maybe slow down the tempo, and a subtle live jazz drummer might suit the song much better, again a very humble personal opinion.

I liked it a lot!

I am a big fun of combining classic pianos with weired rhythmic pattrens. Why go on the obvious? Jazz and staff...go on Jungle D&B - double time...through some slow filter...it will serve as a gentle energy...but it will have to vary; maybe combine half-time and double-time? just an opinion.

I loved the priodically emerging synth pad.

The piano reverb needs some work IMO, maybe cut on low mid and lows. It jumps out on my Mackies.

Hey, good to hear from you again.
Nice track, the Piano can stay as it is, sounds not bad this The Grand thing.
I would try to group the drums and percussion tracks, group all other Fx sounds and add a compressor (maybe endorphin) to those groups. Beside the Piano the other tracks are a bit too far back in the mix, my taste.

Piano was the obvious star in this. Really well done. I liked the way you have things in the mix.... Percussion just a little too under but still works by giving the piano the focus IMHO

I will work more on it with a friend(he works eight years as a sound engineer.

He played it for a couple of his friends and they gives me a very nice feedback so i will
try to make it better.
When it will be done then i´ll post it here
obviously.But this will be some day....you know...the time.

I was just crusing around and found this song. I absolutley love this song. I play the piano myself and use the grand. I am a novice when it comes to mastering though. The piano sound you get in this is awesome. At the beginning the piano is kind of centered and then when the melody comes in it kind of surrounds you. It's kind of separated too. Is that only the reverb or is it a combo of effects. I have masterverb pro and I'm thinking of getting psyq. Awesome job. I like this version more than the B version. If I could get my stuff to sound like that I would post some of my stuff. Heck, I might just so everybody can make fun of my mastering skills.

Take out the drums and everything else but the piano, don't quantize it and add more feeling with velocity and tempo. I hope you have a weighted keyboard.

Very nice Submarine - the piano is great.
I don`t like the percussion loop because it is boaring. If you have the chance to listen to Dominic Miller (Guitar Player), then you will hear how this tune should sound for me. I have this record and if I don't forget I'll sent you one song of it.

and no quantisizing for sure (work is good)

Sweet as, sounds a little like EST, a double bass would make this tune fly (IMHO). Very nice piece.

I really like this and agree with two other suggestions that for a particular mix, a solid doubletime break along with a jazz bass would be really nice. Just the intro chords with a dnb backend would be very good.

Otherwise, the piano is very good but the drums are mixed kind of low... overall very good.

I second the idea about dropping the drums altogether. I think that a moody & original track like this is instantly dragged back to sounding quite average by the addition of boring percussion.

I'd concentrate more on some ambient background melody or environmental effect (as seems to briefly visit around the 4-minute mark).

Also love the heavily detuned synth - more of that

I think chopping out the percussion and concentrating on the originality and emotion of this piece could see it lift another 100%.

A great track even now though

Beautiful motive, melody and harmony, very nice indeed! So, very nice piece of music!

The arrangement is not too effective, as many here have stated. I too agree about removing completely all drums, they sound kind of distant, I feel like travelling in a train, but being at the door of the train, without getting in and sitting down, so, it’s sort of un comfortable to be hearing this percussion loop.

As everybody stated, you achieved an extremely good sounding piano, I just hope you remember “in detail” which have been the exact parameters you used, EQ, etc., and use always the same ones, as they are perfect. Just one thing, I think your reverb is slightly hard in the low end; a cut would be in order down there.

I have – if this song was mine – the perfect solution to solve the arrangement problem. I see this song to have been build onto the rhythm so, no doubt, the rhythm is needed, but… how to represent it to truly much the kindness and soft spirit of this music? I would build a small orchestral camera to support it rhythmically. This would be what I would do in your place:

First section: flute, oboe and bassoon
Second section: violins and violas
Third section: cellos and contrabass

I would build with them, interacting in counterpoint, a soft, distinguished rhythmic – harmony – structured to support all needed rhythmically to give the piano the priority it already has in the song.

I would like “so much” for you to do this, I would love to hear this new arrangement, it’s so clear to me that I whish for it!
