i'm going nuts...i tried everything buth nothing worked...i'm trying to link two pc's over system link...on pc 1 i have a Scpoe project and a Scope Professional...on pc 2 i have a Motu 2408 with the PCI324 Card...the connections i made: ADAT B ports of Scope Professional is connected with the ADAT ports from the 2408...the scope board is the master...then i did everything that's writen in the Cubase SX Manual...nothîng...i tried and tried and then i thought i made it...both pc's where shown on both machines...they where both online and somehow they could communicat togehter...but somethings wrong with the sync i think...when i hit play on pc 1 then pc 2 should also start to play, right?...but nothing...pc 2 just went crazy...this thing that normaly follows the song, i don't know its word in english, jumped around like crazy...i don't know if i did something wrong with the sync in cubase or is my routing in SFP wrong, no idea...please could somebody post me a project with the routing of my SFP-
project to get this System Link thing working...there has to be a solution...a big thanx to everybody...
Help needed with VST System link Cubase SX2
it may supply some comfort that Google (de) lists your question (this very thread) as #1 when entering 'cubase systemlink'
you probably got the importance of this site right...
anyway, aside from the fact that it's a very special setup you have - I personally doubt that systemlink is an easygoing and reliable thing at all. But that's really (and only !) my subjective point of view - and not even based on any hands-on experience.
Imho it's a total kludge with not even a convincing concept (opposed to MLAN for example), in the first place intended to sell additional licenses.
I vaguely remember some folks here had some experiences in that context, but definetely not in coop with a Motu. If such a complex setup fails (which I'd expect anyway) it can have a dozen different reasons - difficult to debug from remote with the information you provide.
If it's worth the effort at all is probably the main question.
How important is it for your workflow ?
If it's just about ' but I can make use of a few extra cycles my CPU may have left' then it's really not worth to even consider.
For the simple fact that it's an aweful lot of work that could be invested in something creative instead of an obscure possibility
If you have a certain setup in mind that crucial for your work and depends on distributed processing, then it's of course a different story...
Many SFP users prefer the SFP synths and FX over VSTi stuff, which may also be a reason for not 'such a' big resonance.
That doesn't mean they ignore or dislike VSTis - it's just that those are not the core part of the system.
cheers, Tom
