This is from the the first post in this thread:
"You might want to setup a def.pro and def.all so you only have to do this whole setup once. "
I know what a ".pro" is, but I'm at a loss as to what a ".all" might be.
Someone light my lantern please.

I HAD TO DUMP SONAR FOR JUST THIS PURPOSE. I WENT TO CUBASE JUST SO THAT I COULD SWITCH OVER TO XTC AND GET REAL DSP USAGE OUT OF MY SYSTEM. LATENCY IN MIX ISN'T BAD. ITS ONLY A REAL BOTHER WHEN TRACKING.
I USE DIGITAL MIXERS ON THE FRONT END AND AJUST ACCORDINGLY. THEY AUTOMATE COMPELTELY THE CUBASE ENVIRONMENT.
I DON'T HAVE SAMPLE ACCURATE SYNC EVERYTHING BUT CAN KEEP EVERYTHING PRETTY PHASE ACCURATE.
FUNNY THING ABOUT DIGITAL IS THAT THE PHASE THAT EXISTS IN SOLID STATE IS NOW MEASUREABLE WITH DIGITAL AND WE MAKE MORE OF A STINK ABOUT IT!
REGARDS ALL NICE DISCUSSION.

Multi track recording in Cubase: do not take 'merge' for that but use 'Input Split'.On 2001-10-04 05:47, algorhythm wrote:

or something like that.
Assign different input on Cubase channels, record enable the tracks.
During recording, I disable ASIO2 monitoring too.
CWPA is my favorite for midi. I liked the CAL files a lot, these are simple user-programs like the 'Logical Edit' in Cubase. Also remote control seemed more convenient in CWPA....
I only use the BixMixer of the Pulsar. Right now I'm recording the movements I make with the BixMixer in Cakewalk. Works fine with me.
Anyone outthere who can convince me in using Cubase/VST with their mixing environment instead?
...
If I didn't use so many VST fx (which are way faster than Dx and consume less cpu) and Rewire, I'd stick to CWPA. Btw, what audio drivers do you use in Cakewalk?

actually, I think we are both wrong! I was talking about MIDI. what one really needs to do is activate the ASIO channels on the "VST Inputs" page. . .On 2001-11-06 20:17, atomic wrote:Multi track recording in Cubase: do not take 'merge' for that but use 'Input Split'.On 2001-10-04 05:47, algorhythm wrote:

I'm trying to set up my sts-5000 with logic's mixer. Mabe I'm stoopid but I can't get the DX/VST/Logic plugins to work.On 2001-08-26 06:15, h4nc0 wrote:
yes, and with logic live input monitoring, you can use DX/VST/Logic (aka native) plugins on those live inputs! It's quite amazing.
This is what i do:
1.First i set up all my sts outputs in the EASI inputs + EASI output to sound out.
2.Second I set all the audio to "armed" (REC) and Rec the midi channels I've choosen.
I get sound out and everything, but when I start setting up an effect with DX/VST/Logic plugins, I get no effect out of it.
I tried to set the effects on the main output and this works! I can't understand what's wrong.... Has anybody got a clu??
