I'd say that writing drivers is actually part of the emulation, for example VirtualPC emulated a S3 graphics card IIRC.

maybe it would be interesting to make an APCB (Authentic PC Box). It would consist of a mini-itx style board, a scope card, a cool enclosure and a ton of knobs. it could autorun a ...

so these are SHARC ADSP-2126x, are they the same model used in scope or some newer one? (actually, do all scope boards use the same model?)

I was editting the message at the same time you posted.
I think scope will survive on external boxes.
Anyway you know what I'm talking about, it has been discussed here. Not that Scope is changing much lately anyway.

Apple (OS X and its hardware) have proven to be a rather rapidly moving target the past few years.

There's a good number of companies that have not abandoned their mac customers.

Simply "releasing the code" isn't so simple for reasons that have also been stated over & over & over...
All I ...

it has been mentioned numerous times that it's not about a driver, but an application port - and that needs documentation that they are (obviously) not willing to share. Period.
I tend to think that the app is ported since the times of NOAH and that it's what allows them to sell the ASBs as OSX ...

we already can use scope on windows, we could use any old cheap PC for that.
what we want is use our cards on OSX.
If creamware is not going to evolve scope they could at least let others do it by releasing the source code for the damned driver.

I'd be grateful if anyone cared to elaborate a bit on how to perform such a test , although I admit it's for an unrelated purpose.

wsippel
sorry for my lack of understanding
so, with EZLite you mean evaluation boards from A/D? it's not possible to hack with the CW boards and gcc alone? (hey if they provided a driver for my platform I wouldn't be asking this)
and, being csound open source I guess that sharc version should've ...

wow
if the whole system goes open source they'd start selling boards like hot cakes. after all it's a system for hackers.
for me I think I'd end up buying as many as I can fit in one computer.
so when you say SIM.DLL you mean the OS will keep closed right?
but then I guess it would be possible to ...

1.-make the I/O part open and let the comunity enhance and develop it to a rock solid OS.
2.-keep making your busines with synths and plugins that run on it and with the hardware.

That could be a busines model for the smaller CWA.

I think the modularity of SFP could be catapulted by any contact ...

Again now: what's the problem with drivers ?

I supose it's a question we have all asked at some point.
But, given the situation now, really, why not?
Us OSX users would be so happy to keep using our expensive cards just for I/O.
SFP is a very nice concept, but it's expensive to mantain for the ...

well, thanx 4 yr help, but I finally deleted the partition.
I had read very funky stuff about the subject, but nothing that could point me in the good direction.
the funniest comment was on the creamware support database, where they asked me to look for a windows registry-like entry in my mac ...

marcuspocus: I tried yours. it does not work for me or I'm too stupid. I try to load the startup mdl in the root folder and it does nothing. I also tried to fill empty 3rd party colored modulars with the modules. the luna would hang.

but I'm afraid that loading modules and building patches from scratch does not work. at least for my version. I can only edit existing patches.

yeah, funny they like to show it on the modern apple displays. it gives some hopes about osx developement. but be sure its going to take long.
I was begnning to think they'd give up mac support or something. they're very quiet about osx.
