CreamWare Reloaded

When CreamWare Datentechnik GmbH - makers of DSP based audio products such as Pulsar and Noah - filed for insolvency in June 2003, the more than 30.000 users of CreamWare systems had reason to be concerned about CreamWare’s future and the future of their products.

„Today we are proud and happy to announce good news for our users and anyone else interested in the stuff we do“ reports CreamWare founder and managing director Frank Hund. „On February 1st, a new company, CreamWare Audio GmbH, will be able to continue development of existing CreamWare products, technology and customer relations. We can now finally close our insolvency chapter.“

This new and fresh start of the company became possible after CreamWare Audio GmbH reached an agreement to purchase all major assets from Dirk Obermüller, the insolvency administrator of CreamWare Datentechnik GmbH.

„In fact, this transaction means that we can continue to build and grow our business, even if we are initially starting on a slightly smaller scale,“ explains managing director Wolf Roth. “The new CreamWare has great products, technology and financing. And last but not least, we’re looking forward to working with many of the same people we have enjoyed working with in the past.“

CreamWare Audio GmbH will continue to provide technical support, repair and warranty services for CreamWare’s existing user base. The new company plans to exhibit and introduce new product already at the upcoming Musikmesse in Frankfurt.

I am sorry we had to keep quiet about our plans until this transition was complete. I know this had lead to much room for speculation but you just can't negotiate such things in public.

So, the good news is that CreamWare is not going to disappear, it will neither simply dissolve nor be digested and spit out by some other corporate body. We will keep our core identity, even if things have changed.

I hope you will like the news. I'll be back to Planetz over the weekend to read your comments and answer your questions. Please understand that I can propably not answer ALL your questions re: future products, updates and developments as it may be just much too early for me to have firm statements (upon which you will measure me in the future) on hand.

Speaking for me and my colleagues, we're thrilled that the story continues and that we may be part of it.

It says you have new financing which is good. Are there any plans to hire some new people to actually run the company in such a way that this will not happen again?

The actual key to make sure it does not happen again is to hire LESS people and emphasize outsourced structures.

Congratulations!

When you speak about working with many of the same people, does that mean some of the third party relationships no longer apply? I'm specifically thinking of the SPL Transient Designer and Transient Attacker. I have SPL on each of my Creamware machines, but the limit is four instances.

Will it still be possible to buy the SPL after January (and if so will that increase the number of instances)?

We'll need to contact all 3rd parties to transfer agreements to the new company, SPL will surely be available in the future as well. Realistically it'll take us some weeks to execute though.

Nice hearing from you Frank and from CW as well.

I'd like to know Frank if you guys at creamware are going to explore (as you mentioned about 3rd party's) the possibility to add other company's pluggins to the SFP, like Waves, Steinberg's, Sony's, or whatever's. And what the future will be for the DP version of SFP.

These are great news. I don't think there could be any better ones. Think: For sure CW will continue SFP now, just because most of the current 30000 users are SFP users.

Best thing for actual creamware will be to throw some pieces of software at moderate price at us which are must haves for everyone. So there will come some money in and to reactivate optimistic expectations of the userbase. So a good image of CW could spread again.

I am curious, if Noah will now have a better coming-out, re-coming-out. Hope the prices stay low, so maybe one day I will get one too...

Does this mean that development was frozen during the period of insolvency? I'm thinking specifically of SFP.

Frank, for me personally, it is an honour to have you here, at Planet Z. I am a real “enamorado” of most Creamware products and so, cannot but be extremely happy of your continuation in business. We are in difficult, challenging times nowadays, and we all are forced to adapt to the upcoming days as we can. Your adjustments and transformations are not unexpected if we think you’ve been there for quite a few years already, against a ferocious an always growing competition…

Congratulations for your courage! It is FANTASTIC NEWS you are there to keep going!

BTW: I like how Creamware Audio sounds as your new name; it is simple and relates directly to the world of music through the word “audio”. It also confers a more professional atmosphere to the word Creamware.

I would like to take advantage of this thread, to tell you and your Team that your products are a real marvel, I love them enormously and enjoy every single day their possibilities and sound. Today, after almost 6 full years of having a Pulsar Card at home, an obvious thought comes to mind: “Fortunately I’ve got Pulsar and not anything else!

As I have already said in the Z Forum: there is only one thing better than a Pulsar Card, TWO Pulsar Cards…

Most fantastic news. I think I can speak for most of us hear that we are all glad and relieved at the same time.

SFP will live on, and so will one of the best DSP systems in the world today.

To the naysayers, well, we all told you so. It's not really poignant anymore to be negative. So do us all a favor, and give it a rest, for goodness sake.
