Ok - here is a problem that only appears in Minimax for me that is really getting me frustrated (I have tried to create it with other synths, but cannot)...
I am running Minimax with around 4 - 6 voices and controlling it via an external keyboard routed in through the PowerPulsar midi. When I play several voices together with some of the preset sounds, I start to get uncontrollable feedback that will not go away, even when switching to another sound.
At first, I thought it was from a stuck midi note - but hitting the midi panic button does nothing. So, I am not sure that is the problem now. I am wondering if some type of feedback loop is getting created within the Minimax device from overlapping voices, the effects or something else. It seems to only occur with patches that use the Minimax effects or have a lot of sustain to them. (By the way, the Minimax outputs are routed directly to a physical out, so there is no chance of a physical connection causing a feedback loop.)
The only way to stop the feedback is to (1) quickly scroll through the presets to break the signal flow (scrolling to just one or two other patches does not stop the feedback) - or (2) remove Minimax completely and reload.
Any suggestions?
Minimax - Stuck Notes/Unavoidable Feedback
Yeah, changing the channel works to stop the hung notes, but I need to avoid hung notes all together. They frequently occur when using Minimax (no other synth I use, including other SFP synths, experience this kind of consistent hung notes). This is terrible if you are trying to use Minimax to perform. I absolutely love Minimax and use it all the time - so this is a real bummer. I really need to figure how to fix the problem, otherwise Minimax becomes kind of useless as a performance synth.

Ah yes, Roland quite often have this odd notes off malarky which most other manufactures avoid. i can't remember the details (Gary B, where are you?). It's something about Roland using true MIDI All Note Off and most people using MIDI Volume=0. Or something. Anyway, the upshot is you can get hanging notes with some MIDI gear (odd that only MiniMax is affected though, maybe the MIDI implementation is different on this synth).
If you have an All Notes Off filter on your sequencer then select that, otherwise you may need a little hardware widget that can filter All Notes Off before it gets to your computer - maybe something like this http://www.philrees.co.uk/products/process.htm will do the trick.
