i am wondering how many pulsar/scope/win xp users out there are installed in standard pc as opposed to ACPI...
please include your hardware and software configs as well as your reasons for the particular install (which are probably closely related).
i have been a long time supporter of the standard pc method, even with newer APIC boards and XP. this was largely influenced by creamware tech support and my own tests...
i am however trying to keep an open mind, and welcome any and all input from the community on this dead horse of a topic.
in my experience, the pulsar 2 card can be a bit "fussy", but i am hesitant to place blame entirely on the card and it's driver. there are alot of other factors involved in this process, and i am eager to hear from you all on your own experiences.
so please, participate!
A Quick Survey (Sort Of)
I use a Luna II and have tried both methods when doing clean installs in the past (WinXP Pro w/SP1). To be honest I didn't notice any particular difference, so the last 2 clean installs that I've done have been ACPI.........or auto install if you like. This is on an Asus P4PE with The Luna in PCI slot 2.
I have had no warm/cold boot issues either (a notorious P4PE issue).
Running SFP 3.1c with Logic Audio Platinum 5.5.1 as the main audio app. (Not using XTC mode at the moment). CPU is a 2.4gig/533 fsb P4 with 512 PC2700 (generic) ram......no overclocking, don't really need to at this point.
My system is extremely stable, and fast enough for my current projects.........thumbs up here.

thank you guys for contributing
i forgot to include my stats:
win xp pro sp1 (standard pc)
cubase sx
sfp 3.1c
intel 845PEBT2
P4 2.4 533
1 gig DDR2700
pulsar 2 in slot 2, IRQ 5
my system is very stable, although i have lately been getting the "Process_Has_Locked_Pages" blue screen. through a regedit i am able to trace it back to my midisport 2x2 driver. i am starting to wonder if this is somehow related to standard pc and it's hal...
i am almost willing to try ACPI, but this seems like a lot of work just to diagnose a driver issue.

OS: XP Pro,
Standard PC,
current uptime: 1 Week 1 Day 1 Hour 55 Minutes 23 Seconds
Had some BSOD's on opening mp3's before. Going back to the 3.1c final drivers made this machine rock steady.
More specifiations: see Creamware User Setups page.

I had to install as ACPI-PC because i use a S-ATA HD (Maxtor DiamondMax Plus) and I have to use F6 to install the Promise-chip of my MB (Asus P4PE).....and since it seems ok, thats how it gona be!
Very hotheaded I tried to hit both F5 and F6 (about 10 times each), but I couldn't get both Standard PC installation and S-Ata.
