well, I dont want to diss anyone here, but what is the whole fuss surrounding another effect called vocoding? its just part of an arsenal tool of effects and to me, well it just seems weird to give it such a big amount of importance, especial when its been so much overused that I find it hard to get inspired by them.
again , I guess it boils to taste or am i missing something?
cheers

vocoder.
I assume you are talking about Orbitone's Vorb?
It's just that :
1. it sounds really rather excellent, especially compared to the uninspiring native offerings.
2. its useful for stuff other than traditional vocoding - the formant manipulation stuff in it is beautiful in itself.
3. most people are happy that new, excellent-sounding plugins are being offered all the time for the SFP platform. I wonder if you will post something along the lines of "oh how tedious, someone released some new modules for that boring old product the Modular 3" when Adern's Flexor is released?
peace

the 'Vocoder' is just the marketing label, you have to give it a name to sell it
Everyone knows what to expect from a vocoder, but quickly one realizes that the 'Vorb' can do a lot more.
It's an excellent sounding effect and inspiring, too.
So what's left is a feeling of fun and good bang for the bucks, which makes pulsarians happy.
Even more if it's a little ahead of the 'aahhh so powerful...' native solutions
Could well be the reason why Stephen Hummel left out an FX section on his latest synth, the sparC
I really appreciate those pure, unwatered, fat sounds. Add a bit à la Vorb and it sparCles...
cheers, Tom
