PCI Capacity Reached. Help!!!!!!

Hello.
I have recently encountered quite a serious problem with Pulsar. I've been using Pulsar for more than two years and it has never happened before. I use a Pulsar 1 card in conjunction with Logic (on PC).
After I have for example recorded a vocal track and then play it back, I get a nasty click/pop then Pulsar stops working and I get the message:
"PCI Capacity reached."
I'm not using much in the way of resources. So I'm not pushing it to the limits. As I said this is a recent problem that I haven't had before. I would very much appreciate it if someone out there could shed some light on this problem.
Don't laugh, but I still use version 2.4 and run it on a 450. It is a Pulsar 1 card and I run Windows 98 SE. I will update my PC soon.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Do you have a VIA chipset? What is your mobo?
Change to SFP 3.1 c !!!
When you have a VIA chipset i can mail you a
patch for it or you can download it from
http://www.tecchannel.de/hardware/817/8.html.
Befor you install it(setup.bat)look if your
chipset is the right one for this patch .Look here:http:
//www.georgebreese.com/net/software/readmes/faqvl019.htm
Well since ive installed this wonderfull patch(i have the asus cuv4x mobo)i can work with the 24/48 mixer whitout problems and bad messages.I can do anything ,its very stable.
I think you have the same problem or your irq settings are not ok.
But you have to change to sfp 3.1c forget the 2.4 version.
I hope you will become good results.
Regards

To Submarine,
I don't have a via chipset and the machine is a Dell, so the mother board is a proprietry brand. I know that may sound "primitive", but I have been happily making music with this for quite a while problem free until recently. Would updating to version 3 of Pulsar make any difference do you think??

Wierdo, I guess you have USB activated (?) and you have a lot of reverb/delay on the vocal track (?)
The USB interrupts 'regular' processing frequently in Win98.
I don't think that any 'update' has a significant influence on your problem above.
If the system is running as you like there's no need to change.
cheers, Tom

if you want to be absolutely shure that it's the USB disturbing, you'd have to deactivate in bios and windows and do the 'problem' track again.
I'm really not a Logic expert, but to me it seems that Logic is very sensitive to timing issues if something else on the computer is going on.
That doesn't mean Logic is bad or to blame, but it looks like several unfortunate circumstances adding up.
I've had a similiar setup for some time and never got PCI problems.
You mentioned you want to buy a new system anyway in the near future, so I wouldn't mess too much with the current setup.
Generally the newer OSes like XP seem to run better on newer hardware (from what I read) or do you consider a switch to Mac and are stuck due to that OSX issue ?
cheers, Tom

Hi,
I am running the most recent version of Logic(pc) and the most recent version of SFP. I was experiencing the same problem recently. Everything was fine untill I decided to introduce my external midi gear into my SFP projects. I too am using a USB midi interface. I think that is where the problem is. In the logic 5 manual it says something about DSP card issues. I saw that & thought I was screwed. Then for a week I tried various configurations of audio drivers & such. I've found that the error has ceased since I switched to the ASIO 2 drivers. Lucky for me because the "legacy" port on my midi interface isn't recognizable by my pc. I don't know if your still having these problems but if you are, try this.
(P.S.) I'm recording at 24bit, who knows, that may be an issue as well. Long live Creamware!

I think it could. One thing I noticed after I posted on this thread last is that sometimes, I have to reload the project a couple of times(usually no more than twice). Logic will look for the relaunch of the drivers. Just click on OK. After that, it is rock solid. If not, I will post a detailed description of the procedure to see if that helps. In the Logic manual there is mention of this error with DSP cards. They recommend trying to swap around PCI card positions. That seems a little far fetched to me so I tried a few different things. This works for me & I hope it works for you. I don't think that you have to pay for the update to SFP 3.1c. It couldn't hurt updating. Sorry it took so long to reply.
