I just got the Art DIO at the local store, and i'm very happy so far. Features wise, it is pretty complete, would have loved a noise gate, but for the price, it is very satisfactory.

I use it for my Rode NT1000 mic and my Godin Artisan ST guitar.

For the Guitar, the sound is awesome. Very nice tone, and drivin the lamp a bit i get just that really subtle typical overdrive. Really cool.

For the mic, since this microphone (nt1000) is very very quiet, i found that the noise level of the art can be a bit annoying with hi level output. A can't drive it to much. I can get an 'acceptable' level with gain a +18 and output at +4 withot too much noise. That is where i would have loved a noise gate.

I use the adat output of the unit connected to my Pulsar1+ adat (in / out), and it work perfectly well in slave mode. Altough you CAN'T set it at anything else than 48khz samplerate in master mode, in slave mode, any sample rate will work. For me, it is alot simpler to leave it in slave mode, since the unit is not always on, i just switch it on when i need it, without having to switch also my system from master to slave. So, this thing is not even a concern to me.

All in all, i'm very happy with the unit, specialy for the price i paid.

I had one of those units myself a while back (sold it because I really didn't need it anymore). But I have a few other ART devices and they all sound great. They win my best bang for the buck award. Inexpensive and great for warming things up. Perfect for home studio use.

Enjoy!
