Luna with 3 DSP's - just a waste of pci-slot?

IMHO, it's all in how you use the devices. I agree that 3 DSP isn't a lot, and you will end up looking for more (as I am now) so that you can really take advantage of the DSP synths and effects, but for basic recording, I haven't found anything that's close to it in terms of price/value. For 300$ I have a professional grade card that can also substitute as an effects rack, a modular synthesizer, a sampler, and every now and then a full array of synths, DSP permitting. I can't do everything at once, but for the price I paid for it, I'm glad that I can do more than what most people can do with their own semi-professional 300$ card. I create my music track by track, and build up slowly - so for me the Luna is perfect. I will get more DSP though, I just need to find a cheap Pulsar 1 (4DSP), and from there i may go to another form of DSP card for more options (eg, the Korg OASYS or something similar) when I get the money.
For now though, Creamware has given me a solution that has gotten me out of "warez" products and has still given me the tools (synth, efx, mixing) to accomplish what I like to do, which is making music.

DSP's are an addiction and I feel it is my duty to inform you of that fact. It is however a rewarding addiction nonetheless....
By the way. The Luna II is much more about being a low cost IO card (with a very high IO count for its price) with advanced mixing capabilities than an effect/plugin card. Thats why the Zlink support is built in.
Give in to your addiction. It is the easiest way and you'll not be dissappointed you'll just get more greedy

Exactly!
CW - Kinda like Audio Smack dealers...
i bought a luna2 in august, 4 months later i expanded with a pulsar2.
the reason is simple; the amount of fx/mixers etc included in SFP way exeeds the capacity of 3 dsps.
now i've got fx package 1 & 2, synth pack 1 & 2, modular, etc etc. way too much for only 9 dsps to handle (at once)... you see where i'm going. as long as cw release all those darn softgoodies i'll be a dsp junkie!
dsps, sting and beer. my weak points

I totally love the routing flexibility of my luna, and if you want, go hear my tune for the january contest: all modular 2 sounds on 3 dsps. The patch I used could give me up to 5 notes at once with everything else removed (I mean everything!). One day I will buy a scope, but for 333$ us, you can't ask for more!
Thanx for all votes. I bought the luna and i was really a little bit disappointed first, because I haven't read for what the card can be used for. I know, shame on me... I thought that i could load some synths and more stuff eighter with 3 DSP's. So, i just going on making sound with reason and cubase sx/vst...

Yep that will be the best way for now. There a replug for CW cards the cream Vst and some are free. (See Celmo Guitar amp modeller, I use it for anything)
You can use the freebies and try the demos with what you have then spend for extra DSPs if you're inspired enough.
This ios the beauty of CW you build to the scale that suits you.
Enjoy.

I would also put in a plug for the powersampler II to those looking for a relatively cheap expansion to an existing CW DSP set-up. Considering the cost of the STS 5000, the powersampler is a steal if you already have a pulsar board running the SFP enviro.
If you look on ebay, one could get a pulsar one and powersampler with 7 total DSP cheaper than a Pulsar II and with more I/O... (I am just praying my pulsar 1 will still work with the new boards.
