I dont understand why people want win 2k as an audio platform, yeah its a little more stable than 98, but its really a server platform/grafix workstation that work with multi cpu's i do not see how pulsar is gona work any better running 2 xeons with 2 meg l2 cache, than a single 1 gig fcpga, i thought thats wot dsp was for to take work from cpu,
sure you get to play with lots of memory, but when i talked with the guys at creamware
when you get to 512meg there is little or no
benifit from running 1gig of memory or more
in win 2k as the os will eat what ever else you throw at it, and i didnt think audio was as geared up for multi thread apps as the grafix industry, just my 50cents worth, might be way of the mark, but having worked with win2k in grafix apps i cannot see audio apps gaining much from chaseing a server/grafix platform
proberbly in the wrong

Why chase win 2k
Dual CPUs is the main thing I can think of, but with such low utilization of the 2nd CPU and such high hardware requirements (in comparision with 9x), these 2 CPUs need to be quite a bit faster still.
I'm going to try to wait for dual 2GHZ AMD's before going fully to 2K/XP Pro, etc. But I am definitely interested in exploring the Win2k option further once the CW drivers come out.

The pulsar could proably use a cpu just for its meters!!! the other one runs the audio app. Use a lower ulli and run more standalone apps. In 3 months or so you'll be able to get a dual athlon mobo 2 1.5ghz proc and 512mb ram for around $1000 native plugs can easily be multithreaded, sonar does it already.
