Are anyone in fact using the Luna Box - and how do it compare to the A16, known to have a very warm sound ?
Is Pulsar II born with the Zlink or do you have to buy it ? If 2 Lunas are to be fitted to give you 16 i/o, how do you fit the second Zlink to the Pulsar?
Zlink again !
well, pulsar2 is not 'born' with z-link
but there is a z-link-module planned, like the classic i/o-board, or the adat24-i/o-board.
you don´t need two luna2-boards for getting two luna-i/o-boxes (btw, luna2 usually comes without a i/o-box, and costs less), you can easily add an i/o-expansion containing the second z-link (and two adat i/o´s). that luna-expansion costs about 200€.

luna II does NOT have the box. it is the luna I without the box. that is why it is cheaper. it does have 2 A I/O and 2 D I/O though.
if you need a zlink you have to buy the expansion board for a pulsar, or you have to buy a luna (might be a better idea to get the card, cuz you are already dropping $$$ on the zlink card. . .)
do you know of the SMUX technology? you can get 24 bit 96 khz by doubling the bandwidth per track (and halving the track count) accross the lightpipe. you need SMUX compatible convertors though - total track count 16 on a Pulsar across both ADAT at high-fi freq/bit rates.
$$$$$

Luna2 comes with a ZLink port, however.
The Luna Box which you can add to a stock Luna2 is about $555 (list) and you can add it at any time. Personally I prefer 1/4" and rackmount.
Also you could add ADAT ports to the Luna2 with an I/O plate.

I'm using the Zbox on Luna and it sure sound very good. If you compare spec, their almost at the same levels of quality as low priced RME adat converter (which are by far more expensive). Lot better than Alesis AI3, but bit les quality than higher end RME converter. For me THE reference is ADI-8 DS from RME.
But comparing the price 555$ vs. $2255, unless you produce music for holywood mega production, Zlink do it pretty well without adat syncing assle.
