note: the mixer and global panels are hidden within the mutant surface, simply click on the words 'mixer' and 'global' to open these surfaces...

specs:

VCO
- 2 oscillators per voice
- oscillator 1 features a waveshaper that morphs between a sinewave and a sawwave
- oscillator 2 features a waveshaper that morphs between a sinewave and a squarewave (with pulsewidth control)
- oscillator 2 can be tuned apart from oscillator 1 (coarse and fine tuning)
- both oscillators feature cross-modulation

VCF
- hummel custom 'hyperfilter' technology: switchable lowpass, highpass, bandpass and notch
- cutoff and resonance control
- 2-stage cutoff frequency control envelope:

- stage 1 includes variable attack and decay parameters

- stage 2 'laces' stage 1 (controls in parallel with stage 1)
- stage 2 features attack, decay, sustain, release, attack slope control, decay/ release slope control, lacing strength and overall time mods

- 'accent' fader controls the amount that attack velocity effects all envelopes' (filter envs 1 + 2 + amp) levels

- the cutoff frequency can be further modified by the sum of the mixer's (VCA) output, external input signal (voice, etc) and a key follower

VCA
- amp envelope: attack, decay, sustain, release
- individual level controls for oscillator 1, oscillator 2, noise and external input
- final output features volume, distortion and 'crusher' (grainy texturizer) control

- global controls: transpose, tune, glide (including fingered portamento and glissando), pitch bend range

FEATURES...

- very distinctive sound/ performance features, ideal for leads and basslines (but killer pads are also easy to achieve!)
- morphing oscillators add a new timbre demension to this popular style of synthesizer (popularized by synths like the famous 303)
- the custom filters can be found nowhere else, adding to the uniqueness of the mutant
- the filters are punchy and resonant
- very smooth controls (no zipping/ popping, etc)
- slick, organic surface design, compact
- easy on the DSP usage
- habit-forming
