Hello,
I've just complete the configuration of my new PC for audio. Everything is running well in audio but I have a big Issue concerning the midi timing ! When I play or record a midi track on Nuendo (same for SX), The counter goes quick, slows down, sometime skip ... but is never locked to the good tempo
(I have this problem with both internal midi and external midi interface so it let me think that it does not come from the external midi interface driver)

Here is my configuration :

Pulsar I running SFP3.1aWindows XP Pro
P4 1.8A
Mother Board ABIT, i845e based
Ram 512 Mo
DD 80Go
Midi USB Emagic MT4

The midi timing is working fine under ACID3 .. so I guess it's an issue comming from Steinberg sw

Does anyone have any idea ?
I really need HELP !!!!
Thanks,

Vna

PS: it used to work really fine on Win98se ... to bad I decided to change

Try to set the priority higher in the task-manager: process, right mouse-click: there.

Changing priority does help for internal MIDI timing but it is a known issue at Steinberg, that the MIDI Clock output is crappy.
Only recommendation from them:
set your external arpeggiator, drum machnine, whatsoever to internal clock.
They are "hard working on the problem"

YESSS !!!

After my 4th installation of Windows XP Pro I discovered and solved the problem !
In fact, when I launch SFP with a starup project and then launch Cubase SX I have big troubles with midi due to bad configuration of the ASIO driver(I suppose). tempo jitter is +/- 200 Bpm !!!!!!!
The Bug Work around is the following for a project at 48kHz:
1- start SFP
2- start Cubase
3- change SFP sampling freq to 44.1 and back to 48kHz -> Cubase detect the new sampling frequency of 48kHz (but does not react on change to 44.1 ... strange !).
4- re-init ASIO in cubase device window
5- all is working fine !!!!!!

I read also many comment on Cubase Forum concerning the midi timming issue but it is for external sync only.
There is also a way to (maybe) improve it by changing the priority of the software in the
task manager window.

Thanks for the answer and good music at all
