Ok, so here's my problem:
I'm running Cubase SX w/ Luna 3.01 and a Nord Lead 3 connected as well.
I've configured my set-up so that the Cubase sends the Nord Lead 3 and CW the correct controller numbers so they are alligned, and I can then control knobs in CW from the Nord Lead 3.

However, in doing this I need to set the values of the CW knobs from the values of the Nord Lead 3 knobs.

What I would like to do is dump the values of the CW device knobs (synth, mixer, fx, etc) to Cubase and then from there dump those values to the Nord Lead 3. This way everything is synced and whatever the current values of the knobs are in CW can be exactly copied over to the Nord Lead 3.

I used the mixer in my first attempt at doing this and noticed that it has a MIDI out port. However, I could not figure out what this MIDI out is used for. Using the MIDI monitor II I tested whether it acted as a midi thru... nope. Then I thought maybe it sent controller data after you assigned the knobs and turned them... nope.

I couldn't get any MIDI out of it at all.

I know for my Nord Lead 3 there are MIDI commands you can send it to dump the current midi parameters automatically.

Does anybody know how to dump the MIDI values from the mixer or other MIDI out? Does anyone even know what the MIDI out is used for on the mixer?

Thanks for your help, feel free to post here about this, or e-mail me @ absolut@andythepooh.com

Thanks,

Well, it is probably a bug then, cuz before, it used to send cc from the mixer configured slider for example....

The Midi Out on Creamware devices normally send out the midi created by moving a CC# assigned knob/slider. There's no Thru option.

There's no dumps for this one. Anyone tried to record CC# after changing preset? Might work, who knows.

Just in case anyone was curious about the result of this problem...
I checked the first Mixer and it does output midi when you assign a fader something. However... it doesn't send the midi very continuously. If you move the mouse up and down very quickly, it send 4 controller numbers between 127 and 0. pretty shitty.

Could be your mouse refresh rate too  Did you try moving it remotely, via actual CC# and see if it sends then?

I'm no expert, but does any midi device output continous values when changed in high speed? The bandwidth of the midi port is not that hard to fill up...

Yes... I have a Nord Lead 3 which features very high quality rotary encoders. It sends every single controller value. However, I don't think this is very common. I've tested this on an Access Virus B and a Korg MS2000, and both synths skipped a significant amount of controller values when being turned.
