Hello - I have an old pentium II which i use for midi sequencing running Logik 3.6 with a maxi studio isis. A year ago i experienced some weird behavior. i powered the system on but the hard disk didn't open as usual but it turn off itself and back on like it had a power problem. I changed my disk and the problem continued so i understood that it was someting else (my motherboard i guessed). With some playing with the cables i made the system work and since then i hadn't experienced the same problem. The other strange thing that happened since then was that sometime my mouse just stop function (an old com mouse) until i reboot plug a ps/2 mouse in the port then unplug it and my other mouse starts function normal.
Today my problem is back. My mouse had stopped and after some reboots (the method i have found to make it work didn´t work) my old hard disk problem reappear. the only new condition was that i haven't electricity for 3 days after a very strong rain. After a lot of reboots i unpluged my cdrom and the hard disk problem dissapear but the harddisk operation light was always on. I then repluged the cdrom and everything is working normal again...
Can anyone guess what it is? it must be somthing with the grounding and static electricity which has damaged my motherboard-power supply-cables
what should i check...

Throw the isis by the window man... This is but far the most problematic pci card i ever had... All kind of weird behavior... Ramdom bluescreen, just think of a bug, and this crap probably has it! By a soundblaster live value (35$ or something?), or a new luna!

ok isis is a toy
but i 'm using it for what its good
-midi timing with logik- i ´m sequencing midi and nothing else and that card has nothing to do with the computer problem...

i 'm sure i have better timing than any cubase - latest logik sequencers... just compare a light midi sequencer like seq303 with these sequensers and u 'll find what i 'm saying- In my pulsar box i have cubase as a vst host which runs halion-reactor- attack
Cubase can't even record well midi with high sustain and glide combination..

i'm totally satisfied with my system - i don't know if i ´m missing something (neither i care)...

For troubleshooting, then try running the PC without the Isis.

If that doesn't help, in aviation we solve many problems by re-racking the boxes/computers. Connections that sat still for long time may get this weird behaviour, bad contacts etc. And as you mention it's an old computer...
