Hello..I m going to buy Pulsar II or Power Pulsar

hello .. i m going to be pulsar user soon
may anyone give me some suggestion

6 dsp vs 15 dsp ???

actually i have no idea ...how well 6 DSPs are going to work ?
i m going to get the pulsarII with half price of power pulsar but if the 6 dsp are not enough, the power pulsar is the better choice than upgrading the pulsar II

let say how many tracks that can be inserted with 4 band eq ? (6 dsp vs 15dsp)

or if you can make other ways of comparrison is more than welcome

If you can afford PowerPulsar get it. I started with 4 DSPs (Pulsar I), then added 6 more. Now I have a Creamware Scope Board. I have a total of 25 DSPs. It's like computer processor power. YOu can never have enough.

I have Pulsar2 and PowerSampler so that's 9 DSPs, but if I was buying now I would definitely get PowerPulsar; in fact I've just ordered the Scope SRB which is an additional 15 DSPs so I'm hoping to run 21 to 24 DSPs if I decide to keep the PowerSampler board. Also worth considering is whether to go for the versions with balanced or unbalanced jacks. I went with balanced on my Pulsar2, but it depends on what equipment you'll be feeding the Pulsar with.

Another vote here for the PowerPulsar...

I have a Pulsar II board (6 dsp) and I recently upgraded and added a SRB (15 dsp)....(21 dsp total).

The extra dsp is really a blessing. If you can afford to start out with a PowerPulsar, you should go for it.

You won't be sorry.

same here: started with powersampler, soon added pulsar II (now 9DSP) . i´ll order an xtc board upgrade now, cuz SRB ist still too expensive for me. but if icould i would...
get the power pulsar, if you can.
you won´t regret!

what we can do with that 6 ??

money is not the problem. I just want to answer why i have to pay more for 15 dsp
(if i might not use it)

my bedroom studio is for vocal editing &sequencing may be mixing sometimes

15 is nice........6 is enough,almost.(in my opinion)6 is enough for a synth or two and a few plugs plus mixer and i/o.if you have a good computer,you'll probably do alot of things native and be happy.then comes that big mixdown..................

The reason that 6 isn't enough is that EVERYTHING SOUNDS SO DAMN GOOD!!

The synths, effects etc. are all of such good quality, that you want more More MORE....

Especially the dsp hungry ones....(like Prisma)
With extra dsp, you can open more instances and have greater polyphony. (a Pulsar II board can only get 6 voices out of Prisma with a mixer)

I personally think that the Pulsar synths are far superior to native offerings (Reaktor, Absynth, Pro 52, Reason, etc)
Others may disagree.

Only you can decide what you really need, but I doubt you will end up saying "I just have too much DSP here....I can't possibly use it all...."

I started with a LunaII and I still have 3 DSPs now! I can load one reverb(masterverb, ptfree)+a few eqs+1 or 2 filters OR a mod 2 patch with 3 or 4 notes of polyphony OR a STS-3000 with 30 notes of polyphony. It's not nearly far away from what I require, but in time, I too will end up with 30 or so DSPs...

If you have the money and want to do serious work on your tracks, I think you can use 15 DSPs. And if you want to use lots of synths, you might even need more...!

I dont know what kind of music all of you like but i love House music and i have a friend who manage to sighn a track on Id&t , a track on AFTERGLOW RECORDS and tons of remixes and he uses only Pulsar 2 ...

Six DSPs is enough to do some heavy-duty processing of audio feeds; OR play one of the most beautiful synths with some effects and reasonable polyphony (5 to 8 voices).

Unless you're into extremely minimal music you won't be able to sequence a full song via MIDI - you *must* bounce tracks to audio and then load the next device. This works fine for me, but may not suit others.

With six you're not locked out of any of the good stuff, but you will be well aware of your limit. The temptation will be to use "lesser" devices to run more in real time, but that defeats the purpose of having such good devices.

On the other hand if you have a lot of native devices then 6 might be ideal: you've got a good sound card, the option for extensive mixing or perhaps just to run a synth or two.

But if you can afford it I say go for the 15.

Do the effort to buy a Powerpulsar and forget it! I have 4 DSPs and can do really much, but bouncing as said by Spirit. This is what I do. I just can imagine it is much easier and inspiring to build up a complete project within “one go”. Definitely, get a Powerpulsar!

6DSP is enough for light/ok quality effect processing.
15DSP is barely enough for highquality audio/effect processing.

I think 15 DSPs are a whole lot of power, it's already a very good amount of processing power.
