Interested to know what genre this may be called - never been one for calling names myself
This is Melbourne band The Booboos, in which i play bass & trombone & backup vox. The singer/guitarist, Andy, is obsessed with writing stuff that is diabolical to sing & play at the same time. Fun having a go, tho

Wayne...

...superb! That's the first word that came into my head when I heard Pearl and Dave - kicking bassline, great drums and excellent singing, particularly with the close harmonies towards the end. Namely, then, a cracker!

As for catagorising the piece, it leans significantly towards funk in my opinion, which is fine by me. Do you mind a little criticism? For me, the one weak point is the bridge around 1min - would it be possible for the guitar not to follow the voices so much; go up a fifth occasionally, or something like that...

And that's it!

Hooray for the Booboos!

p.s. before I forget to rate it - 9/10!

I heard it over the headphones. My initial thought was, that the soundscape tilted a bit to the left. I take it, it is the guitar line, that does it. Also, because it is unisone with the bass (and more present than the later), it kind of pulls the bass to the left too.

These are just my thoughts using grado sr60 headphones - these are made for hi-fi, so maybe they fool me a bit.

thanks for the comments, fellas.
You can probably tell I'm more musician than mixer, but I'm learning

I need to set up my room a bit better - there's standing waves in here at about an Eb - my favourite note!

Otion12 - I see what you mean - the guitar does mask the vox , or at least doesn't get out of it's way enough. I'll talk to my guitarist, although he lives 3500 km away!

Thanx again 4 the response

I LOVE this one, love this style alot!

Reminds me of Gentle Giant. Maybe a little Zappa. Anyway, this is just to give the usual 'sound's like' comment.

It is still your own style. Love it very much. That's the kind of music i would love to write  It's a bit short thou!

Very nice song! The voices are a bit out of tune, but with such an harmony, who is not going to be! It’s difficult to sing this and if you song it while playing, well… I have to say it’s fantastically done so.

You have a very characteristic sound and ideas as I could hear from quite a few other songs. Quite a nice group, honestly.

What style? Are you kidding? You need to study musicology to get it clear! There is many things onto it I think, and this is my best try: kind of progressive rock, funky, huly-huly jazz, etc…, but nice!
