The recorded Midi will play, but when I try and play my keys with the MIDI channel highlighted,I get no MIDI output. Do I need to check or un check something?

when multirecord enabled, you should choose "input split" for MIDI. then you are able to attach every single MIDI-input available to any MIDI-channel --> when activating "input-Split" you'll note that a new column appears in the arrange window -> there you may choose one of your input-sources (have a look in the MIDI options for the order of the inputs, because you'll just see a number)
