I'm lookin to expand my setup in the near future with more external soundsources. I now have an EMU XL-1 plugged into the Pulsars stereo in but if I want to hook up more gear, I'll need more inputs.
But I'm considering buying an external mixer because I want to have some options of playing live in the future and I can't really afford to buy an ADAT interface and a mixer and I'll need the mixer eventually.
Of course using an external mixer would only give me one stereo input into Pulsar but I'm wondering if that will be actually a problem if I can do the mixing and maybe fx on the outboard mixer.

Any ideas?

i have the same problem, but i think i will buy something only in the far future...
i think i'll opt for a AD/DA converter: i found a cheap one in the Fostex VC8 (i think it should cost 300$) it's 20 bit, and it has 8 in and 8 out.
a mixer is too expansive 4 me (far more than 1000$)

I bought the Fostex VM200 for $500 thru Samash. It has 8 analogue ins with direct bus ADAT (to pulsar), and 8 ADAT ins (from pulsar). 20 bit. also has internal dsps for fx, an easy interface, motorized faders, saving of settings, AND works as a MIDI controller (buttons, sliders). It retails for $1500. If your shelling out $300 just for the convertors, you might as well get da mixer (IMHO). Good luck!

Shameless boast: Just did my taxes - >$400=Luna II for me!!! YIPEE!!! 7 sharcs!

More comments - the mixer works great with pulsar. mixer as slave on ADAT to pulsar. really flexible routing. one setback - it uses lightpipe spdif while pulsar uses coax, so you'll need a convertor (I just don't use spdif!) Highly recommended - better than just a convertor just about the same price. . . peaceout

hmmm...I bought my pulsar 1 together with the cw A8 which runs great using the internal mixer´s - I´ve got an additional Roland VM-3100 Pro, but I run out of money to get the additional R-BUS interface (it´s a shame that every manufactorer is cooking his own soup here) you need to communicate with the pulsar, but someone from the pulsarians list informed me, that´s a great setup even for live gigs (with the additional R-Bus interface...)
