This tip might sound a bit negative, even DXL-ish , but IMHO it's a fair advice if you don't want your musical work interupted by bugs and undesired OS behavior.
Reading through the bug reports I can only conclude I'd have stumbled upon 50% of them within days (yeah, poweruser, been there, done that )
The new features 3.1 is offering *are* pretty cool, but not if that means working around or (sometimes) not at all...

Don't get me wrong, I like the Creamware environment, but 3.1 is just to buggy for me now. 3.01 might be slower, but I think it's more stable and trusty.

Can't wait for 3.11! (hmm nostalgic memories to my Windows 3.1 experience....)

don't get me wrong but i like to know that i'm not the only one with pain in heart about bugs

3.01 works very good and stabile with win98 but i had some major problems in xp.
now i don't have those same problems with xp but have new.

i will try to avoid problems and wait several times for first update - if not i will back to 3.01 and win98.

actualy i miss 2.04a  everithing goes wrong when i first time saw word "xtc". btw: i don't use xtc, but it was a "sign"!! (joke - of course)

Indeed I'm still running 98 and ME... glad I didn't follow the upgrade path for Windows or Pulsar; still very little problems in combination with 3.01

For now, I think 98/3.01 should be the safe bet if you just want to make music, instead of involuntary becoming a senior system administrator...

[edit] btw taking about 100mg of xtc will cure most of the problems with SFP3.1 for at least 5 hours! And your girlfriend might be begging you for more....[/edit]

clever, win98se and pulsar3.01!! i never had stable system. i trying to go on xp everytime because i can set 3ms in cubase without any click and problems. btw: i don't need low latency like that, but i have feeling (not knowlage) that's xp the best system and everything working nice but cw's stuff (for me).
hm, i think that i will back to 98/3.01 combination.

Well Sandrob, I'm afraid I have to disagree on this...

My system is not top off the bill but works fine!

Dell Optiplex GX1
PIII 550Mhz
448MB
6 ( )GB HD (no partitions)
Matrox g450 PCI(...)
Pulsar II

and I run:
WinXP Pro
Pulsar 3.01
Cubase
Reason

and I have to say... it's stable! *Never* crashed so far!

It's fast enough, don't know what program should run faster when it's for example P4. Probably Reasom could handle more, but if that's the only thing...

nice! i'm happy about you!
i really have some bugs problems with sfp, but in other hand i'm very satisfied with sfp concept. specialy with new livebar. with livebar (always on top) in standard mode i have feeling that's pulsar part of cubase. almost like i'm useing xtc mode include modulars, sts3000, optimaster, psy q, synchotron... and other non-xtc devices. and everything can works with 3ms latency.
so, i will try to avoid situations when sfp crashed and wait for update.

I see the development team being sweated by the sales team at Creamware. It's a tug of war and exactly when will the product be ready to ship. In the heat of the moment like so many other companies the engineers hsatily complete their beta-testing and the product begins shipment. Then the real problems begin because real users are finding them. The sales guys enter another clash with the engineers, why doesn't it work exatly as we intended they'll ask. The engineering staff sweats a bullet and releases a new patch---saving the day and retaining the core user-base.

This sounds too famliar. Microsoft does it. Everyone out there seems to do this. I concure with the top of this post. I don't believe I'll have problems but will upgrade with the first service pack equiv. known as 3.11.

About that time the new Cubase will be out and I can have my two computer system with System Link installed. I'll run CW on one computer and probbaly RME on the other. The other system will be nothing more than the CUbase front end and a Hard-disk recording system from Hell. The 2nd computer will be my mainstay for synths and will be loaded with CW everything, VSTi's and other goodies.

I can't wait.

I think the 3.0->3.01 upgrade patches are on the CW-site.... or are they? :|

And Ohmelas: agreed.

Hopefully Creamware will use a little more beta-testers for their next upgrades/releases.... I think there are many powerusers on PlanetZ who will be more than happy to play with the newest toys and do some bug reports in return;)
