new PulsarII and Pwrsmplr not yet installed, still setting up homebrew dedicated DAW. (no gaming, office, network, nuttin'!) CUSL2, PIII800, 512mg, G450 dual, lots of HDD, plex 32Xburner, winME/Cuabse. I want to strip OS to bare essential. Tried 98LITE as clean install, couldn't get it to work, used it over existing install, stripped all I could.

Question regards drivers. Seems the fewer I have in there, the more stable and easier troubleshooting. Do I need DirectX? all or Part? Attempting to install only one/newest driver only for key devices, PCI, IDE, etc. any other must have you can recommend? Best avoided? Same question for codecs?

Subject: dx etc...

if u don't inst Dx, you won't have any Dx plug ins :(...
some are very very good ...
other way, pulsar had a Dx input module, so I think creamware gave u the response.
For the codecs : i think u will need them to
For drivers : install only tho u need.
In fact, if the PC is well configured, and the parts R good
(no VIA chipset... as i did :( it will work.
What u can do is tryings using smth like norton's ghost which allow you to reinstall everything in a few minutes.

It's not a problem having games in yer pc... but not with DOS sound (redneck rampage b.e.) In fact, they often sound really better with a compressor or some noise gate :)

The few drivers u have, the best it is

plz, use win98se, it will work better 'cause it's really lighter than millenium...

If micro$oft was building elevators, the power of the motor will
double every year, and the weight will be four times heavier!

*lol*
well, what about an audio-to-midi converter that triggers a sample-player with some triumph melody for each headshot...?
... i never thought about the endless possibilities of the pulsar background project for gaming... (;

Subject: needDOS Driver to trig Duke3D special KickAss ;)

Eheh, If a game doesn't disturb the system, why not to play with pulsar...
I tried a few games that have midi... It's smoother than a Soundblaster.
The Sample Player C allows Program Changes... I made a GM bank, based on
Akai CD's samples :)
it's cool... Pulsar can be a great gaming card... why not?
I don't think I have to be serious all the time, and some original experimentations can be allowed... hey, I got an Idea 4 creamware: socketted Dsp's, so you can update your Pulsar power by changing to new sharcs that are more powerfull :)
No... the customers wouldn't spent 1300$, because one board has not enough power
to really work... It's the same thing by selling the sts 4000 apart...
A sharc dsp was sold 10$/100,000 pieces 2 years ago... I'm not mad...
Does Creamware want to be the Microsoft of DAW ? If v1.2 of the software was very stable,
the followings are not that kind... Héhé, in fact, A pulsar should have 15 dsp=150$ of dsp's on board, and a scope, 53, as their prototype AP 2010... I think this would be honnest. eheh, that's true, there's no real concurence for this product, except that now, PC processors kick Asses as well as Duke Nuke'em, and virtual instruments are good too...
In fact, I don't think that a pulsar card costs 'em more than 100$ or 150$ (I have knowledges in electronics)... Eheh: everything you got on is : the dsp's, the I/o circuit, and a few components for the alim or little resistances and condensers... In fact, the sharc, and the pulsar software, do all the work... It's not that I don't like pulsar, it's a good concept and very flexible, but things are made to make you upgrade regulary by money spending...
You and i know that the most of musicians are not very rich...
At this hardware price, I expected from Creamware a Jeskola's Buzz' attitude... Have you tried this thing? it has asio driver, hundreds of synths, open source, and is totally free...The developpement kit is furnished... There are GRANULAR SYNTHESISERS in! If creamware was a little meaner, they would multiply their sales by ten...
Instead of that, I ask myself if I'll purchase a second Pulsar, and a new mobo with amd chipset(?), or if pulsar will be used as a pure synth/sampler in a separate PC or as a live mixing table with controllers , and putting two RME-Hammerfall in the DAW... I'd like to see what the new version of buzz will be :)
