hello,
I've just migrated to a new system :
Asus p4t-e, P4 1.8, 512 Rdram, Windows XP pro, pulsar 1 and SRB 2.
I've got a big prob : pulsar alone makes no noise, but as soon as I open Cubase, I hear a high noise (digital ?).
The problem seems to come from the midisport 8x8 USB interface. When it is not present, the noise vanishes.
Also, when I click on the menus, the noise stops very shortly (which causes dropouts in the midi and audio stream).
I've downloaded the latest drivers for my G400 matrox and Logitech Optical (Dual sensor).
What else can I do ?
Thanks in advance
Pazpatu
asio noise ?
Does the noise sound like sync noise (white noise) when you're clocks aren't locked?
or
Does the noise sound like rf interferrance noise that you here sometimes if a Citizens Band radio is nearby your studio and comes through the guitar amps?
or
Does that noise sound like something else. Please tell us the details. That would better help diagnose your problem.

Thanks for your response ohmelas,
It's difficult to describe a noise, but I'll go for your first description.
When I was under Win 98, I could lower the sound by tweaking from master to slave in pulsar.
Today, it's the same noise but only when the usb midi interface is open. It's a very high noise wich seem to be "digital"...maybe it would be better to send you a short mp3 ?
Thanks in advance.

This doesn't sound like a driver issue to me. I'm thinking along two lines:
I agree with the previous post that it may be a config issue, however, just special to note: Pulsar does make noise when it boots up--clicks and pops of white noise. If this is more along the lines that you're dealing with there is nothing that you can do about this except don't turn your amp on until after you've booted up.
If this isn't it we'll need to go further into details. You said this happens when you're booting up Cubase? How is Pulsar configured when you're doing this? Have you booted up Pulsar surface and is it running when you're booting. Are you loading Cubase into XTC mode or are you loading from the Pulsar defaults that's in Windows?
What is it about your 8x8 that makes you think the noise is there? It's a MIDI device why would it make sound if its not connected to your speakers? Does the sound come from Pulsar or your other sound cards in the system? Does it come from another device like an external synth? Please advise on the origins of the sound as well.
Thanks

Thanks again ohmelas,
I've just found a beta driver for my midisport 8/8 to work in the serial manner...no more noise !
That is : I have that awful noise only when I use the usb connection...
The problem occured in that way :
boot of xp interface open (asio source and dest and adat source and dest): no noise
launch of pulsar : no noise
launch of Cubase (without XTC): noise
shut down of interface : no more noise
My prob is gone but I think it would be better for the midi timing to work with USB...so
