Ive recently become the proud owner of a Scope/sp, Luna II and Ultra A16 and would like 2 get them setup with 16 channels 96khz.

I believe you can get 8 channels of 96khz audio using 2 adat cables but I have had no luck.

Ive tried installing the scope software alone, the pulsar software and also the luna software. Ive tried with only the scope card and with both cards together. Ive tried on win98se and XP.

Ive tried setting the Ultra A16 to master and the scope to master.

But every time I choose the SMUX dest or source IO module it says 'Cannot find the corresponding hardware!'

Anybody have this sussed? Maybe Im doing things in the wrong order. I can send 44.1+48kz streams fine so I know that they are connected ok.

I wondered also whether it was a sync issue so I have them connected with bnc wordclock cables but Im not sure how you go about syncing with these.

If I can even get this running, will I get the 8 channels all on ultra A16 A/B or 4 on each of A and B.

Id like to be able to get SMUX across 8 channels and then use the Zlink for the other 8 channels to make 16 @ 96khz in total. But I suspect it would work like that, any thoughts?

My pc is a 2ghz intel p4, intel850mv, g550, no cards other than creamware, complete new installs of 98se and XP.

I installed XP in standard mode. Ive had difficulty gettnig the cards onto their own irqs. Even if I set priorities in the bios 1 of them tends to end up sharing with something else. Is there a surefire way to get them sharing a dedicated IRQ?

Ive tried moving them around to different slots also, but without much success.

The S/MUX option for the A16 Ultra is not released yet, it's an additional board you purchase and install into your A16 Ultra.

If you want 96khz right now (but why? you get half the amount of DSP power), use the Zlink connectors... if you have the Classic I/O on your SP board then get the Luna ADAT/Zlink expansion, so you'll have 2 zlinks, for 16 channels I/O @ 96khz... but again, be sure you evaluate your need for 96khz.

considering need, you are almost certainly right.

as for the s/mux, i gathered that support for 8 channels was built in, but support for 16 smux channels would come via add on board.

sub, do you know why even though I specify irq priorities for the cards in the bios it still ends up sharing irqs between one of the cards and the usb?

I need usb for my oxygen8 and midi interface so ive ordered a dedicated usb card. Hopefully then ill be able to assign it a separate irq.

On the Intel-brand boards, I've found sharing IRQs to not be as big a deal as on every other motherboard... worry about it only if you have problems.
