I'm running a dual boot system (Windows 98 and XP). Each OS is on a separate hard drive.

Here's my problem--when I install the driver and software for the Pulsar 1 card in XP, it freezes up after re-starting. The only way to get into Windows thereafter is to boot into "Last Known Good...". Previously, I was running the Pulsar in XP, and I wasn't having any problems (besides the fact that I couldn't get more than 24 tracks of audio to play simultaneously...).

I've installed the Pulsar software separately for both OS's. I simply want to get the background project to run in XP--I need sound so that I can research new music on the web, and I don't have (or want) the internet available in 98.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks...

I have a suggestion: use your mobo's onboard sound or buy an 'el cheapo' soundcard that you enable in XP and disable in win98.

I too am running 98 and XP dual boot - however, I have them on the same HD and everything is running fine.
Maybe check the XP/2000 Optimization threads - especially on the Standard & ACPI modes - that may have something to do with it. After going through all of those (especially the disable thread) XP has been running great and so has 98.

Thanks for the advice, guys...

I just installed "el cheapo" soundcard. Although I'm loathe to put anything else into my PCI slots, I'm just gonna have to deal with it until I can afford a dedicated DAW.
