I have tried both the original Pulsar samples CD and a back-up I made. When I go to the file browser I have no samples on the CDs. And looking into my e-drive (my burner, wich I use as CD-reader too) Pulsar almost freezes - gets very slow anyway - and all the folders carry names like 0 or other stuff beginning with 0. Does anyone have a solution for me?

Try right-clicking in the browser panel and a popup window will give you the option to show Akai volumes. Select this and..voila.

Still not working: I get a lot of folders - most of them are named A or B.

I know in Halion you need to have the lastest ASPI layers intalled to read AKAI discs.
(I first I stupidly thought that this only applied to scsi cdrom drives, but it applies to ide too).
Try installing them, as I'm pretty sure I'm it applies to Pulsar samplers too.
That fixed the problem I had loading Akai sample discs in windows XP.
(Feel free to correct me anyone if I am wrong)

Thanks

Where do I get those ASPI layers, and how do I install them?

I got and ran the update. But after a reboot, and checking the installation did take effect, I can still not see any samples on my sample CD. All the folders have no name or names like 0 (many of those) or just strange names.

Not sure what the problem may be; my AKAI-format sample CDs work fine on my WinXP Pro install. Except sometimes they don't want to eject unless I close the Pulsar Explorer window first or move to a different drive inside the Pulsar file explorer.

Just a thought - are you logged on as an administrator or a user?
It states in the documentation if your a user you cant see the akai file extentions

I have the same problem for 3 months now: after installing the Pulsar ( 3 ) Windows (XP) just doesn't read the CD-ROMs anymore, only if I reboot with the CD inside. It started (of course) with the Creamware-Sample-CD.

This is probably the same issue, not yet resolved.

I wonder if de-installing, removing the drives, re-installing, would help, but was too lazy until this day...

New XP installation, new aspi drivers. Same problem, Pulsar OS will not see any files on my CDs, and if it sees folders, they all have bad names.

I do not think we have the same problem sandrob.

My CD-RW drive works perfectly anywhere but in the Pulsar explorer. I allways have Pulsar in the background. And I can use it to listen to CDs with media player. So our problems do not seem to be the same.

So, it turns out, Pulsar is picky with cd-drives. After getting back my Sony *jetplane*, that a friend had borrowed, Pulsar can see my samples on my sample CD.

immanuel, try to make pulsar project with more devices - include STS!
with this project in bacground try to open cd-rom(s) from win explorer, please?!
do you have acess to every cd in pulsars browser (one by one)?! i have to first one, but can't do refresh?!
do you had sts included in project when you try this?!

thanks

I am not shure, I understood you 100%
But just for you

1)I made a background project with a sts2000
2)Then I closed Pulsar
3)Now I could not reach normal files on my CD-ROM and burner in windows explorer.
4)I recreated my old background project (simple with no sts)
5)I closed Pulsar again
6)Now I could find normal files in windows explorer

So maybe, we have a bug. Anyway, it does not look as if, you are the only one, who can not acces files in windows explorer with an sts in the background project. Could more people check this out?

Anyway, I need to reinstall winXP. Logic can not find the key. I have tried the keyfix, but it did not fix. I have tried in 98lite, and it works. So maybe I just have a problem with my OS. But it would be strange, if we have both messed up XP the same way. So I think we have a CD-ROM/STS bug with Pulsar.

one thing to try that has worked for some people trying to view akai disks under halion is to disable the CD under hardware devices in control panel. you wont be able to use it in windows but u may be able to see it in the sampler u are using halion/sts etc.

this is most suitable for those with 2 cds or dual boot.
