Is anyone using this mobo with pulsar2? I've had some strange instability problems with this setup (and Nuendo) since I upgraded to P4. Computer freezes all the time and constant errors in Nuendo. Somtimes even it shuts down. I'm using Win XP by the way. This problem seems to be both in xtc and desktop mode! Maby this problem is not related directly to the Pulsar card???

You need to give a bit more detail, about your setup.
The instabilities you describe can be caused by any number of things.

I have known of these things to cause those problems:

Power supply not providing enough power; did you upgrade your PSU when your upgraded your mobo and chip?

Crappy graphics card + drivers can cause this behavior, I had a creative geforce 256 card that caused no end of problems.

I doubt an IRQ conflict could cause ur pc to turn off itself. But not entirely impossible either.

Virus? I dunno do you have antivirus software installed?

And if its none of the above, the only possibility left is insolvent drivers.

Ok, my setup is: Win xp (also tried 2000 and 98se) Abit TH72-Raid P4 1,6GHz, IBM 40 and 60 GB deskstar ata 100 HDD, 512mb rambus, matrox G450 VGA DH. The powersupply is 300w and brandnew, and the installation were done after fdisk and format so virus is not possible. Then of course there is High point raid controllor onboard - maby there are some known issues?

My setup is based on the same board, except without the raid-controller: TH7-II
I didn't choose the RAID version because it uses PCI bandwidth and you don't want that with Pulsars in your system. My setup:
TH7-II, P4/1.7, Bios <a href="http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bio ... >th7h38 (very important) , Geforce2 (Asus 7700), Pulsar2, Pulsar XTC, SW1000-XG. The Pulsars share IRQ, the SW1000 has it's own IRQ. Both IRQ numbers are reserved in BIOS.
I use WIN98se with 98Lite in a very minimal config. No internet exploder, No outlook express. (see Win98lite thread). Furthermore I disabled my NIC, my SCSI-card (scanner) and my USB ports in the device manager, and I disabled COM2 in BIOS.
I run Pulsar 3.01 software with Logic Gold 4.8.1 and FruityLoops 3.4
The whole setup never crashes and is rockstable. If you want I can supply you with details about which card in which slot, reserved IRQ's etc, but I'll have to dig into my system at home (at w*rk right now).

thanx for reply - yes it would be good to have your pci slot setup! I should maby try to disable the raid controller in the bios and see if it gets better that way!

I promised to be back with more detail so here we go.
PCI-slot config:
AGP: Geforce2 agpx4
PCI1: Adaptec AHA-2904
PCI2: Pulsar 2
PCI3: Pulsar XTC
PCI4: Yamaha SW1000-XG
PCI5: Realtek NIC

BIOS: under Integrated Peripherals I disabled AC97 Audio, AC97 Modem, Serial2, Game Port and Midi Port.
Under PnP/PCI Config I reserve IRQ's like this:
PIRQ_0 use Auto
PIRQ_1 use 10
PIRQ_2 use 11
PIRQ_3 use Auto

In windows I disabled USB, AHA2904 and NIC.
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers,
Rob
