Since I installed Win2K, I can't access my CD ROM's
unless I reboot while there is a CD inside.
If I reboot without CD's inside the CD ROM's I can see the
drives on My Computer but Icant access them if I instert CD's.

The strange thing is, that if I open the Pulsar software,
I can access the CD ROM's from the Pulsar nevigator and after
that, I can close the Pulsar and the CD ROM's works fine
from My Computer.
I installed Win XP Pro and I got the same problem.

Strange ? ? ?

ASUS P4B, P4 1.7GHz, 1GB,
Memmorex 24*10*40 CD-RW, Smart & Friendly 20*8 SCSI CD-RW.

I also try to disconnect one of the CD drives but it didnt helped.

When I recently switched from 98lite based system to XP, I encountered a variety of problems with my CD burner (a plextor) which weren't there under the old OS.

I upgraded the firmware on my CD-R controller (essentially a little bios for the CD's internal controller board)several of these problems went away. No idea whether your memorex needs such an upgrade, but you should check the maker's site for both newest system drivers and any firmware or bios upgrades and install as directed.

Also, normal W2K and XP installs don't seem to include ASPI-layer drivers, but a lot of apps seem to require them. (Note that the "S" in ASPI stands for SCSI, but in fact, both IDE and SCSI burners seem to need these dlls to be present in the OS for certain apps to function correctly.)

You've got a range of choices to get your ASPI stuff right. To understand this better and find what you need, check out

http://aspi.radified.com/aspi.htm

these two fixes should probably get you sorted out.

VIC, I hope too that we find the problem/solution, because it's the same here with my ( IDE ) DVD and CD-Burner under WinXP! Seems the only thing our systems have in common is Pulsar. Nah..
