Hi

I have noticed a bubbling noice sound from my Pulsar2 when i turn up my headphones real loud. First i thought it was a ground-loop problem, but i´ve recently been at other places with my computer and it´s still there. I also noticed that the noice stops bubbling when i press the mousebutton or when the computer is busy loading new windows . Has anyone else experienced this???

I´d really appreciate some help

/bastian

My setup
P3-1Ghz, Abit Bx-133-raid, 512 Mb-pc133, Guillmot-Maxi gamer cougar, Adaptec-Scsi-card, 3 ATA100-desks, Pulsar2.04a software Win98se

Does the bubbling noise happen on the digital outputs?
the most obvious cause to me is interference from the graphics card, providing this noise isn't out the digital outputs, you might want to move your pulsar to a different slot further away from sources of interference ie graphics card.
Worth a shot?

I simply disabled ACPI-in bios, reinstalled Win98Se and the bubbling noice was gone.
Should do it for you, i also got the "disable AGP bus mastering" tip from Subhuman but the settings for my graphicscard didn´t have that feature. Try that first.

SKYWORX, are you from Gothenburg Sweden?? My dealer here told me about someone with a Luna-card having trouble with noice.

Also use highquality audio cables, it can reduce the noisefloor by insane amounts...

Honestly I've never had that problem with identical hardware setup on the CUSL2, and I even use a USB mouse. ACPI is a killer for audio, so bastian may have what you're looking for.

And starting another topic only serves to branch a conversation into many pieces, try to wait a few days (or at least a few hours) before starting an identical one for the best chance at a more detailed response(s).

I tried changing from APIC to PIC in my BIOS but it had no effect on the noise.

AwardBios (we're talking about the setting under the "BOOT" menu option, right?). I only have two options there under "Interrupt Mode"

APIC or PIC so I Pic'd one
