I have a Sonic Core A16 (the one with an AC power supply)
Sometimes it doesn't start up. Sometimes it turns off.
When I keep the power button pressed, it functions.
Usually after a while I can get it to work, mostly by keeping the power button pressed for a while.
My question: is this a faulty power supply? Or would you guys think there is another problem?
Maybe the power button?

Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
i would think it's the switch...
Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
yes, that is the most probable cause.
it's a bit annoying though, in the middle of a session

Did you open the A16U case ?Joey wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:54 am yes, that is the most probable cause.

Is it difficult to replace and do you urgently need the original switch as a replacement ?

Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
You could as well bridge the switch and instead switch the external PSU (or just plug it in/out for some time)...
Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
I don't much feel like taking it out of the rack for now. So we'll see how it behaves for now. I have considered bridging it, and that's probably what I am going to do at some point. But for now I don't know what switch is used.
Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
The switch from my A16:
Size is 22.6mm x 6.6mm with a kind of integrated plastic spring to keep it in position.
Anything with less than 23mm height and 6.5mm width will fit through the front panel slot.
It‘s a regular light bulb switch, nothing particular.

Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
the ultra has a different switch.
Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
oops, I read a A16 with AC PSU... and thought of the blue one, but re-thinking it... the A16U is also fed by AC

Re: Sonic Core A16 problem
Yeah, that's definitely a different switch. it's a push-in switch (there's probably a technical term for that)
