i have just made an interesting discovery regarding the A16 interface and pulsar.
for a long time i was having intermittent loss of sync problems with the A16. every once and a while, usually well just sitting idle, the interface would start to emit a buzzing sound around 1K. i could solve the problem by simply switching the 44.1/48 khz button back and forth once, which always seemed to restore sync for a while.
i was also bothered by occasional pops and clicks for which i could find no obvious cause.
last week i bought and installed a surge protector for my computer. i have always had a Uninterruptible Power Supply hooked up the computer, but never any surge protection.
when i went to install the surge protector at the output of the UPS, it occured to me that i had not hooked the A16 up to the UPS, which would have meant the my system would have locked up anyway, because loos of power to the A16 would hang eveything.
so i plugged the surge protector into the UPS and plugged all the computer components and the A16 into it.
since doing this my system has performed like a rock. absolutely stable! and there are no odds pops or clicks anymore. i would say that doing this small thing has greatly improved the quality of the sound.
i can't stress enough just how important it is to make sure that the interface is on the same circuit as the computer. and i beleive that power conditioners make a difference. all i know is that was the best $30.00 tweak i ever found!
