Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 5 tracks
Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 5 tracks
2 tracks I recorded using only virtual guitar plugins - Reason Rack Extensions and Shreddage 2 VST. No real guitars here - all virtual, including Electric, Bass, Acoustic and Amp Sims. Synths are John Bowen and Mastering is XITE-1D.
Feeling like now for the first time after years dicking around with various fake guitars its finally getting there. I can do limited real guitars, call me lazy (its true) but virtual seems to give me more variety / virtuosity and high lead squeals.

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Virtual guitars seem to be very difficult to do ! I think I tried every new virtual guitar either based on samples or modelisation that have been released since 15 years. And I never found a satisfying one for what I want to do : funk/soul rythmn guitar. It never sounds like I wish and nevertheless, I spend hours to try to make it sounding like I wanted !
Imho, virtual guitarist product results are much better with heavy rock distortion chord sounds.
If anyone knows a new product that could satisfy my needs...... But please, avoid to advice me to play a real guitar, I already know that it would be better...

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Have you tried Rob Papens RG Guitar ? I use it for funky wah rhythm sometimes.

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Thank you, Dante. Yes, I did and I'm still not convinced.
I tried the Scarbee "funky" - the AAS electric guitar - Native guitarist electric session - Sugar Bytes guitarist library and I certainly missed some other.
Gonna try again the Rob Papen one...

Heres one to keep an eye on :
https://www.applied-acoustics.com/strum-gs-2/
I mean, I can see you jazzin out in this video JoPo with some cool specs and hat : https://youtu.be/6hXaR0u2sC4 Check it out at 5:10 ! That's gotta be you !
Its expensive - and if I wasn't already loaded up w/ guitar stuff (real and fake) - id probably go for it. Even so - if its better than what I have for its styles then I suppose Ill be forced to buy it !

Thank you. I've got it already ; the AAS Strum but I never achieve a satisfying result. Though I spend hours on the plugin !
Gonna try that sound pack :
https://youtu.be/ScDxrEvpkyo?list=PLYcT ... 4DTrXpYvz7
The rythmn guitar looks like what I'm looking for or that (from the same sound pack) :
https://youtu.be/9-77b3-ohFY?list=PLYcT ... 4DTrXpYvz7
Rythmn guitar is certainly one of the most difficult instrument to modelise and it's a pity !
I often achive much best rythmn line by using a clavinet or an electric piano... Maybe, I didn't spend enough time on the products that already exist !

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
I've been using this one for a while. Like it a lot. You can create your own midi file rhythms if you don't find any you like. You can also export the midi to other instruments like Six String. I bought the Latin pack. The guitar mode with the strumming keys is cumbersome, haven't really gotten on with that yet. Personally I like the sound quality of some of the other progs better but this one seems to be very light on resources.dante wrote: Thu Nov 15, 2018 12:58 pm Heres one to keep an eye on :

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks

(it's a compliment, lol)

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Yeah I have Brilliant - it inspired my sound on about 3 or 4 songs earlier in the year. Great band Ultravox.

Here’s a pretty impressive finger picking instrument by Mike from Realitone.

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Half price great deal - but not half price on Propellerhead shop - Ill investigate that - wonder how long this sale price will last ?
The heck - fuck it - instabought.
Next Day :
Strum GS-2 is very good. Im thinking it will do some of the same jobs that Shreddage2 will do but at lower CPU. So far Shreddage 2 is still king of lead guitar vibrato and squeels, but that may change. Meanwhile heres the final track of the 4 track 'Sea Of Songs' EP - inspired by too much playing of 'Assassins Creed Origins' on the XBox-1X plus watching dramatization of Howard Carter's uncovering of Tutenkamun's tomb (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5193662/). Its called 'CrossOver' (again guitars all virtual).

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
I just got Shreddage 3 just because the Scoprions excerpt sounded great.
Now I got some big ass power chords that go really low.
I still use a Modular Patch with pulsifiers and Diode Modules that sounds great for leads.
Sampled leads are too thin, and Scopes Powerchords kind of suck, so these 2 will be my dirty stuff for a while.
Funny that the original 8 bit sample of an SG on the Ensoniq Mirage still kicks ass. The feedback on the mod wheel was so cool for 1985.

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
Damnit I didn't know there was a Shreddage 3 !!! If I read this correctly https://impactsoundworks.com/the-shreddage-3-ecosystem/
"The Upgrade pricing above is what you’ll pay if you own the S2 version of an instrument. You’ll be able to enjoy the excellent tones of all these guitars in the cutting-edge S3 engine for just a small upgrade fee. Plus, since these upgrades will live in the S3 Engine, your original S2 instruments – and thus all your existing projects – won’t be affected!"
I will have a low cost upgrade path.

Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 2 tracks
@Dawman, I'm pissed off now that I didn't get Shreddage 3 coz its a Strat which is my favourite.
Re: Dantes Virtual Guitar Rack - 5 tracks
Now here's one inspired by the NASA Mars Lander 'Flawless' that landed a few days ago and made headlines around the world. If it informs us about Earth's origins it really will be the Science of God :
I used Strum GS - but one thing I didn't like about it was overdriven 6th's - anything other than a perfect 5th doesn't really work - which is similar to playing any keyboard guitar present through distortion.. The 5th sounds fine for overdriven chug chug rhythms but any other interval suffers from crappy overtones. The Reason A-List guitarist plugs and Shreddage handle these really well but others don't. Why is this so ? Is this something about 'equal temperament' or some shit like that which real electric guitars have that's hard to emulate on keyboard ?
